Service was outstanding. Unfortunately, the food was completely forgettable. Won't return. We had BBQ chicken pizza & shrimp penne. Both TOTALLY BLAND. Gazpacho was good, but that's not enough! The rolls they bring out are also pretty much flavor-free. What's up with this place?!

Closely guarded secret: The Star Cafe offers guests that dine on New Year's Day a gift certificate for the amount that they purchased (excluding liquor). The locals know this special offer and the place is mobbed shortly after the Rose Bowl Game concludes. I concur with the other reviewers - fabulous food!

I eat here about every 6 months. Although the menu changes the quality of the food doesn't. The freshly baked rosemary rolls are to die for... I usually take an order to go. Only once did I have a bad meal, I ordered the Calzone, and it was more Mexican than Italian... so I'll stick w/ the pizzas. There is... More

This well established restaurant has been around a long time and it is reliably good. My husband just loves the "day old sphagetti" and I always enjoy the portabellow sandwich. It also has great soups and the most delicious biscuits in town which are served automatically as you arrive.

The Star Cafe has been a favorite since it opened. They always have a wonderful soup, a great lunch menu, and old favorites like the day old spaghetti. People fight over the tasty little buns they serve.

We,ve been coming here for family dinners, office lunches and other occaisions since it opened over 15 years ago. Try to catch it before you have to wait a long time for a table. Everything on the menu is good. Enjoy the rolls and the strawberry lemonade. I like the pasta with artichokes

Went there on a tuesday night, wasn't very busy. The waitress was very nice, and friendly. We sat in a terrace they have on the back that is really pretty. The food was OK, we had a BBQ Chicken pizza that was very average, lacking sauce and some Fettuccini Alfredo type of dish that was ok, but I have had... More

Parking available for ample amount of time to rear of restaurant, which has an upstairs room in back as well as a larger serving area on ground level. Service average. Menu reasonably varied, Continental. Portions adequate but not generous. Somewhat similar to adjacent Black Cow, purportedly under same ownership. Is quite busy on occasion. One nicety is the floor (downstairs,... More

What a terrible manager! I visit Montrose once a month for my dermatologist appointment. I do not live in this area. I went to Star Café because there was a deal on restaurant.com. When we walk in, there was no one to greet us. A waiter tells us to sit wherever we want. We ordered our food. They give you... More

We went with 18 of us-- colleagues. The food as always was good, though the service was a bit slow. I ordered the cobb salad-- a great choice. the barbeque chicken was not as good a choice this time-- it seemed the amount of barbeque chicken was small. the rolls are "to die for" amazing.
