Great food choices in a small town setting near Los Angeles

The food choices and quality at Black Cow Cafe in Montrose, CA is very nice. There is both indoor and outdoor seating and it can get very crowded for Sunday brunch. We were there on a Sunday and then walked down the street to the Farmer's Market to sample some local produce and baked goods to... read more

This is my favorite cafe here in Montrose. The food is fresh and consistent. In my opinion the best thing on the menu is the filet mignon chicken fried steak. It is so good and they serve it with mashed potato's and fresh cooked veggies. The Burgers are great too. Coconut cake is heavenly and they also have a coffee... More

The food is always good. Everything is good. One of my Fav's, and afterwards, stroll around Montrose and people watch. Just like going back in time, such a treat.

What an interesting and different restaurant! The decor is amusing Country, the menu is OUTSTANDING, with something to please everyone (check their website) and the service we received was warm and attentive, even though we came at the peak of the lunch rush. I ordered the Skirt Steak Salad which was absolutely delicious. The beef was marinated and grilled perfectly... More

Crowded, tightly packed tables. Food is overpriced and the selection is limited. I don't like the attitude, less friendly than its sister restaurant across the alley.

Great place to get a meal. Definitely a must stop on the strip in Montrose. The food is reasonably priced and good. It is always busy. They have great zucchini bread, salads, entrees and fancy coffees. They are the sister restaurant to Star Cafe.

Very good food, a little pricy but very good quality. Guy name "Jason" is the best waiter in LA county for sure. Any time you go there ask for Jason, he is the best

A perfect choice for any night of the week (expect Mondays - they are closed!). Their menu has something for everyone & the portions are plentiful. My family comes here for great fish & chips, Tri-tip & terrific salads. Really good soups also! Comfortable atmosphere & great value. Terrific service from beginning to end. Definitely the BEST cappuccinos in town!!... More

It is January and it was 77 degrees in SoCal, Montrose. The folks wandering the avenue called Honolulu were in shorts and tee shirts or muscle shirts. The chairs and tables were out front of all of the restaurants. Looked like Paris in September this past year except for the clothes of course. We choose the "Black Cow Café" as... More
