Amir's is a great local establishment with customer oriented service. My food was great, the service was on point, but the prices were way to high for my wallet. With-that-said, anywhere in Monterey you can expect to pay inflated prices for just about everything. Centrally located on Lighthouse, and VERY close to Cannery Row, this quaint establishment appeared very clean,... More

I had the prawns on skewers - very good. Nice selection of beer on tap. A bit noisy, but easy to get a table even on Saturday night.

Why are there so many rave reviews about this place online? My only guess is, most of Monterey, has never had really good traditional Afghan/middle-eastern fare and so they think this place is amazing. My fiancee and I really wanted to love this place. It had great reviews and from what we could tell from the pictures, great looking food.... More

Amir's is one of my favorite restaurants on the Monterey Peninsula, an area known for it's many excellent restaurants. Unique, authentic Afghan food - warm spices, chicken, beef, lamb and seafood and a number of excellent vegetable entrees. Everything prepared onsite in the kitchen. Bulani, an potato turnover, is a great choice for an appetizer. Banjan, the baked eggplant with... More

This is the real thing for Middle Eastern food, served up with some of the best coffee you will find this side of Istanbul (or is it Cairo/Kabul?). Hard to know but it is delicious, with nice service and reasonable prices. Go on the belly dancing nights if you aren't adverse to close contact, as it is a small place.... More

I had never had Afgan food and thought so can't comment on authenticity but what I can say is that it was very good. Had the Chopan ("lamb chops") with Cauliflower side and thought they were very good

I had the lamb kabob with the cauliflower and potato and chickpea salad. Everything was delicious. The salad was spicy! Good but made my forehead sweat.

We started with the flat bread, almost like the Indian Nann bread and the roasted egg plant.Very good. We ordered the combination tikka kabba and fried rice. My boyfriend and I shared all the dishes and there was still so much left over. We stuffed ourselves and still enjoyed a shared dessert,Baklava. There was another couple sitting next to our table... Though I am well versed in Middle Eastern cuisine, I have only dined at one other Afghan restaurant. The food at Amir's was excellent and the service very personable. The banjan, dal (lentil) soup, shornakhod, and tikka beef kabob were all exquisite as was the belly dancing. Great fun!

I've dined here many times, both for lunch and dinner, with friends, family, and people visting from out-of-town, never with a disappointed meal. A casual restaurant with belly dancing show on the weekend. I love middle eastern food. My friends from San Jose and their young children always want to come here when they visit. If you want a wonderful... More
