Great burgers and fries in a strip mall setting

Living in Phoenix I have come to accept that a lot of very good restaurants have humble/inauspicious strip mall locations and American Burger is one of those. The El Salvadoran family that runs the place are fantastic and they definitely cook up some great burgers and fries. I didn't see them on... read more

Yummy juicy friendly fun. This is a family run restaurant that has been around for a while. It is clean and very full of nostalgic music momentous, especially the big stereo from the 50s with 33 albums you can play for enjoyment. Loved this place. Tired of f all the trendy upscale burger places with bland staff and even blander... More

We walked over there from the Aquarium (4-5 blocks) based on the great reviews. There were two waiters serving 4-5 tables, but one kept disappearing. He was also the most uninterested order taker. He may be the cook too?! We order burgers, chicken nuggets and fries. Food took a very very long time to come out. Then we had to... More

Food was very good, beers were cold, fun playing checkers before food got there. Waitress was very nice, polite, and made small talk with us. Daughter LOVED the Marilyn glass she was served with. Pictures of patrons on tables was a nice touch.

We walked out when 2 of the 3 things we asked for, they were out of. The tables were sticky, only one guy was there, and at 6pm, we were the only ones in the restaurant. We had read such good reviews and were looking for a good burger. Did not want to risk it.

Pretty good burger. We also enjoyed playing checkers, looking at the old LPs and celebrity photos on the wall and glancing at the TV that showed soccer matches. We had Mushroom burger and avocado bacon burger and both were good.

Finally found this place after 3 days in Bangkok. Small pop up stand but do not be deterred - THIS IS THE BEST BURGER. Beef burger with everything: Egg bacon and cheese. Seriously, worth every second looking for it and every baht spent. Anything less than 5 stars is a lie !

I won't say this is the best burger I've ever had, but this little place was so great and friendly. Our waiter had to have been the most polite waiter I've ever had eating out. We just couldn't get over it. The buger and sweet potato fries were great and we didn't have a wait to get seated on a... More

We thought this was a good alternative price-wise to eating at the Aquarium, but the food was just okay, nothing special. The burgers were still pricey considering that they came with no sides (not even fries for almost $8!). The condiments were all sticky bottles, some of them nearly empty and missing caps. Not the best lunch experience.

It was a small joint there was a stage but noone was playing. Margarita had little to no alcohol in them. Just a slushy. They had nice chairs what supported ou backs that were tired after shopping all day. Burgers were good.
