Loulou's Griddle in the Middle is the tiny diner on Wharf #2. We always say we're "tiny but mighty." We cook with a lot of heart, soul, and deep care about every detail. We aim to make your experience comfortable, fun, delicious, and a little like being at a home-away-from-home. The kitchen is open so you can see our chefs preparing right in front of you. Our community of customers--both local and visitors from far away--also make Loulou's special. We bend over backwards to accomodate your requests, when we can, and we might crown you with a tiara if your requests are many....but all in fun. The diner opened in 1948, so it's rich with history. We're blessed with one customer, Henry, who has been coming EVERY morning since 1948 and he's earned a customized stool, a plaque, his own coffee mug, and a warm place in our hearts.

Oh Baby, this is the breakfast place.

We ate at the counter and enjoyed watching the guys doing the cooking(show). The food was very good and large portions. Very popular, so there may be a wait. A few outside tables, Very Quaint!

Loved the atmosphere, enjoyed our food, but the service was terrible. The place was packed-- it doesn't have many seats, so we presumed it was always packed. They must have forgotten our order because once we finally got our table after waiting almost an hour, we waited another 50 minutes for our food to come and when it did, they... More

The Hubcap was a must. Honestly it was comical. This dive is quaint and quite tiny but packs a ton of character! What a great and fun way to start the day!

We came here to satisfy our craving for a clam chowder bread bowl, but all the food looked very good. This is a tiny little place at the beginning of the wharf, and very worth stopping to eat.

This is a quaint little place on the pier in Monterey. We had a wonderful swordfish salad, and a not so good crab cakes on salad. There are plenty of other good looking alternatives. The staff was extremely friendly and efficient and the prices are fair. Make sure you find a restroom before you go here, because the only thing... More

Loulou's is a little diner on Wharf #2 that you might walk right by if someone hadn't told you to make it a destination. A few outside tables, 4 or 5 booths inside, and several counter stools is all there is. Well, not ALL! The food is beyond gourmet! Grab a seat at the counter if you can to watch... More

This is the 2nd time we were here for food, while passing by Monterey. Our first visit was simply awesome, and this 2nd time was no different - quality food, non-stop queues, and it was fun watching the chefs cook while we set and had ours at the bar/kitchen counter. The chefs are not stingy with their food/condiments portion, and... More

My daughter and I visited Monterey for Mother's Day weekend and found this little gem. I admit I was a bit turned off by the long wait, about 40 minutes, but I was glad we waited. The staff was friendly, funny and entertaining and once we were seated we didn't wait long for our food at all. The food taste... More
