Loulou's Griddle in the Middle is the tiny diner on Wharf #2. We always say we're "tiny but mighty." We cook with a lot of heart, soul, and deep care about every detail. We aim to make your experience comfortable, fun, delicious, and a little like being at a home-away-from-home. The kitchen is open so you can see our chefs preparing right in front of you. Our community of customers--both local and visitors from far away--also make Loulou's special. We bend over backwards to accomodate your requests, when we can, and we might crown you with a tiara if your requests are many....but all in fun. The diner opened in 1948, so it's rich with history. We're blessed with one customer, Henry, who has been coming EVERY morning since 1948 and he's earned a customized stool, a plaque, his own coffee mug, and a warm place in our hearts.

Worth the Wait

We always went here before hiking trips in Big Sur. They wait may be pretty long and plan to park on the road and walk if you don't want to pay, but let me tell you, the food is well worth the wait. Delicious breakfast foods in huge portions, fantastic wait staff, and great prices. If you are... read more

Great little hole in the wall. Sat at the bar. Enjoyed watching them cook. Staff was really friendly and service was quick. Got the recommendation from a local.

Had the Squiddle and Eggs. Breaded squid steak, excellent. Wife had Crab cakes and eggs, also excellent. Not many tables, small place, by itself on the wharf.

Need a great spot for a fresh, economical breakfast? Well don't miss this place. The food is spot on. Sit at the counter and say hi to the Chef. So good we went there for Dinner and Breakfast. BTW the HubCakes are pancakes the size of hubcaps and can easily feed 2-3 people. So definitely SHARE :-)

Nice location on the pier. Wait to be seated was not long. Staff friendly. We went for breakfast, the food is not that good. Could hardly eat the eggs with all of the basil. French toast was dry, not soaked in the batter long enough and the batter was tasteless.

A little gem of a restaurant and very friendly staff...especially LouLou! Very busy restaurant so get there early and be hungry. Delicious food - seafood omelet and hubcap pancakes along with the special of the day were all good! The kids loved the location on the pier. While we waited we watched the sea lions play in the bay! Will... More

Food is just not good. Bland, too pricey for what you get. Most everything is fried and they use beer batter on the fish. Not good. You pay for the view. Wish the food matched. Can't have cocktails if you sit outside. Bummer overall.

We have lived here for 40 years and did not know this gem had such great food! Tonight we tried the fish & chips and they were excellent! Much better than other places we've tried. We will be back.

We had a fantastic breakfast in a diner on the pier. Service was sassy, friendly and welcoming. We felt right at home. The 'hubcap' pancake was literally the size of a real hubcap--and delicious. Crab cakes and eggs were outstanding, too. We loved this place.

We enjoyed a beautiful sunrise on the working (not tourist) Monterey Fisherman's Warf as we waited to enter Loulou's this morning. The friendly service, excellent food and flexibility with options was welcome. We had a lovely table with fresh flowers and a unique set of salt and pepper shakers (wind up penguins), as all tables have a special set. We... More
