Description: Loulou's Griddle in the Middle is the tiny diner on Wharf #2. We always say we're "tiny but mighty." We cook with a lot of heart, soul, and deep care about every detail. We aim to make your experience comfortable, fun, delicious, and a little like being at a home-away-from-home. The kitchen is open so you can see our chefs preparing right in front of you. Our community of customers--both local and visitors from far away--also make Loulou's special. We bend over backwards to accomodate your requests, when we can, and we might crown you with a tiara if your requests are many....but all in fun. The diner opened in 1948, so it's rich with history. We're blessed with one customer, Henry, who has been coming EVERY morning since 1948 and he's earned a customized stool, a plaque, his own coffee mug, and a warm place in our hearts.

Have had breakfast here twice. Hard to comment on the food without mentioning the enormity of the pancakes, but I've avoided those on both visits. Most recently had the "creme brûlée" style oatmeal--delicious! Reasonably-sized bowl of steel-cut oats with a sugar crust and fresh strawberry on top. Very small place, but so worth snagging a table in or outside or... More

Using TripAdvisor, I discovered this gem! Ordered crab cakes on a bed of mixed greens. A bit concerned because it isn't crab season but was assured crab was fresh not frozen from Oregon. Excellent taste, not overly breaded. Wonderful lunch! Staff super friendly and efficient. Great spot that is not overly touristy as some Monterey restaurants can be. Looking forward... More

Having read the reviews we'd got to give it a go and we weren't disappointed. ... great rustic sea food great regular menu and a couple of nightly specials. ... our favourite was the Calamari. ... there were no hairs n graces just great food and friendly staff... its also away from all the flashing lights and hassle on Pier1....

Had a late lunch here on a weekday with our three kids. Restaurant is small and outdoor seating is premium. Had the swordfish and a cheese platter. Both were excellent. Only negative was my red wine was VERY warm, on the verge of cooked.

As a general rule, your not supposed to eat anything bigger than your head! If you subscribe to this theory, don't order a pancake, and bring a large family if you order two or a stack of three! Half of my football playing 17 year old sons chocolate chip pancake is destined for a Monterey compost bin ;) I had... More

I guess, like many - when you see over 500 reviews of which over 370 are "Excellent" you are on a winner. So I will simply add another "Excellent" because thats what we experiened. Sat at the bar watching the orders being cooked and all the wonderful combinations of seafood being put together - I just wanted to try them... More

The novelty of having pancakes the size of the table wore off quickly when realisation sunk in that they actually were just okay pancakes, leaving over half your meal because it's simply just too much made me wonder how much wastage they have. It's sad. Disappointed also that me & my husband were served our breakfasts at completely different times,... More

My family really enjoyed our breakfast sitting on the pier. The restaurant is small so you can expect a wait but our experience here was great. My 8 year old ordered a Choc chip griddle cake and her eyes lit up when it came out bigger than the plate. I ordered an omelette which was delicious! We ordered 2 meals... More

This is a tiny little place that sits on the side of a pier, but wow, do they churn out some fabulous food. We were two of the first customers of the morning, and both had omelet teas. I can't remember ever having a better breakfast. We may need to go back before we leave! It is not a prom... More

There are a whole bunch of seafood places along the stretch of the wharf but if you want good, authentic, seafood in a no-fuss type of environment, then Loulou's is where you should head to. The serve the best clam chowder - light and tasty, not the typical out of a can sort. The fried oyster (the chef's special) is... More
