Friendly Place

Great layout for a restaurant and friendly service. The BBQ pork had too much rub for me, really couldn't taste the pork. This is just my opinion, I am sure most people like the flavor. Great French fries and slaw. We live near and will definitely go back and try a different dish. A nice bar... read more

Staff at our nearby motel suggested this restaurant. Arriving at about 17.30h there was a busy atmosphere with diners taking advantage of the modest price reductions on the 'happy hour' specials. The bar was run by a very outgoing, friendly female bartender who was very proactive in ensuring we stayed to dine. Whilst some other staff (? the proprietors/senior management)... More

When we stay in Monterey, we usually stay on Fremont Street. As such, we found the Monterey Cookhouse several years ago. This past weekend we escaped the oppressive heat of the Central Valley of California and headed for Monterey. On the way, my wife suggested we eat at the "Cookhouse" and I told her that was already my plan. When... More

Food was very good. The menu had changed the day before we were there and the waitress was still getting used to it.

Ate there as we wanted a quick bite to eat after a long drive down from San Fran! Was a perfect meal, the service was very good (we were served by a guy called Richard, he was a good laugh, upsold well and had great attention to detail). The food was good quality and well priced, was a tad slow,... More

This restaurant was an easy walk from our motel. The food was tasty, and was a very good value for the price.

A wonderful smoked food aroma permeates the restaurant. Our server was excellent, but the meals were nothing special at $20 per person. The sauces were odd compared to many BBQ styles we have had.

I went for the lunch buffet. The waitress described a very attractive sounding selection of food. It wasn't. I tried a little of most everything. There were ribs that were dry with a thick sticky barbecue sauce, lukewarm pasta in what I think was supposed to be a nondescript tomato alfredo sauce. There was garlic bread that was completely dried... More

I've seen a sign for a lunch buffet for awhile now and decided to give it a try today. Seemed a tad pricey, but the selection the waitress described sounded good. I decided to try very small helpings of most things and I'm glad I did. The bleu cheese salad dressing was watery and tasteless. The ribs were dry, unremarkable,... More

I ordered the Flat iron steak and it came with twice baked potatoes and vegetables. I also ordered the soup of the day. The soup was very flavorful and hot. The steak was cooked a perfect medium and tender and juicy, the potatoes and vegetables were seasoned just right so i didn't need to add any extra salt. I have... More
