Healthy food choices

Our family liked the multiple choices (pizza, pasta, seafood, meat...) and the healthy choices (vegetables). The food overall was of good quality. The downsides are that the tables were very dirty; the table cloths looked like they hadn't been changed in weeks (lots of stains, remains of pasta... read more

Stopped in for an early dinner on a warm evening in Monterey. Unseasonably warm in Monterey so apparently, without air conditioning, the place needed the doors open and portable fans. Which, in turn, allowed the flies to come in. Anyway, the waiter seemed to be just going through the motions and never even cracked a smile the entire time. Maybe... More

We have been here a few days ago. The salmon and cajun chicken were ok, but everything that came out of the deep fryer was disgusting: fries, fishermans platter. It looked like the fat had not been changed for months. When we said we couldn't appreciate this, the waiter didn't even respond. The kitchen staff laughed at us while we... More

A few locals had mentioned the well-priced, decent food at the Monterey Cookhouse for a simple dinner. So we were in the mood try a new place (for us) so away we went to this easy to find place. The Monterey Cookhouse has a wide variety of offerings. From burgers, salads, pastas, ribs, steaks to seafood – that pretty much... More

They've apparently changed chefs or lessened the quality of the ingredients. We travel to Monterey once a year and have always made this a "must stop" before leaving. This year it just seemed that the dish I ordered wasn't as good as in the past. The meal was just ok this year. The service was excellent.

The ribs are the best we ever had. Period. Fall of the bone . Sauce was the BEST --- must be home made there , very fresh and made the meat pop ! Dessert was Pistachio from their own Italian Ice Cream Stand . Owner (probable) came by and checked on us personally. Salmon was excellent as well. House Blend... More

Ate here one night passing through on PCH and haven't had garlic fries like it before or since! If you're in the area definitely give it a try.

We were still learning about American diners when we visited. it seems that this is fairly standard fair, with a sizable menu and good service. good, standard and unsurprising

Great layout for a restaurant and friendly service. The BBQ pork had too much rub for me, really couldn't taste the pork. This is just my opinion, I am sure most people like the flavor. Great French fries and slaw. We live near and will definitely go back and try a different dish. A nice bar area with tables.

Staff at our nearby motel suggested this restaurant. Arriving at about 17.30h there was a busy atmosphere with diners taking advantage of the modest price reductions on the 'happy hour' specials. The bar was run by a very outgoing, friendly female bartender who was very proactive in ensuring we stayed to dine. Whilst some other staff (? the proprietors/senior management)... More
