Dubious about having Indian food in USA as coming from UK we are passionate about our curries. However we were not disappointed. Ordered lobster tandoori brown basmati rice and lentils. I could count on one hand the times I've had Indian cuisine, but each experience was positive, and both times here in Monterey at Ambrosia were superb. Occasioned by a cousin visiting from Santa Monica who is something of a connoisseur in exotic cuisines, we returned this time because of the positive initial visit last year. After visit number two,... More

Very lovely restaurant, attentive staff and good food. There was a lovely courtyard. Meal came with bread and rice.

1. The Chef knows how to cook authentic Indian food. I'm writing this because a lot of Indian restaurants in US don't serve 'Indian cuisine', Ambrosia does and are very good at this. 2. Excellent service. 3. The ambiance is awesome! We sat in the Garden and enjoyed it very much. All in all, a must visit in Monterey if... More

We were staying at Asilomar and decided to go for Indian Food in Monterey. The decor and atmosphere of Ambrosia India Bistro is quite nice. We had the Tandoor Mixed Grill, matter paneer, and rice. It was all very nicely cooked and was very flavorful. We thought service was good.

They always have a good selection, with enough varieties that your vegetarian friends will not feel left out. The restaurant is pleasant, and you can enjoy the patio on a nice day in downtown Monterey. It is fairly priced and you will not leave hungry.

I ate at this restaurant with an Asian friend who was a bit reluctant to come here again after a previous visit. In one respect the restaurant was better: the dining room was much smarter than I remember it, and in the inclement weather we had that evening we didn't want to travel further. We had a more spacious table... More

The food was well cooked and reasonably priced. But if you prefer your Indian food to be spicy, you will need to make a special request because as it comes from the kitchen it is somewhat more savory than spicy.

Where to start? The papadums were excellent. I could have eaten nothing but those and the pickled vegetables and been happy. I forget what they were called but the spinach cake appetizer was unique and delicious. Also, don't miss the lamb chop e masala - supurb! And, last, but not least, the best fish curry we've ever had. Can't wait... More

The food and service was below average. And as an Indian, I can tell you this is not 'good' Indian food. It's Indian food, just not good. Something that kind of proves itself from the fact that the restaurant had barely any Indians visiting it.
