Good Indian food in Monterey!

Went for dinner with my wife and son who loves Butter Chicken and Garlic Naan. We sat outside by the fire pit and had a lovely Indian meal. Service was friendly, slightly slow but they had just finished a large sitting and about seven small dining groups arrived within five minutes of each other... read more

The vegan menu offers a wide choice. The dishes were generally well prepared and used little oil as requested. The paneer makani and tofu tikka were bother very good dishes. The place smelt a little old and the toilets needed a clean, aside from that, it was ok.

I am not a fan of Indian food. I really don't know what to order. Fortunately, our friends did. I found this place to be wonderful. The atmosphere is excellent and the food is outstanding. I recommend you share dishes when you visit. I know you will love this place.

I am not one to write reviews, but thought to mention this particular experience. I booked for 8pm but arrived 45 min early and did not mind waiting but was seated promptly.. It's worth mentioning that there were customers who did not book and were seated. We were asked to order our appetisers prior to drinks. Once these were placed.... More

On the plus side, the setting is lovely, and the menu is a bit more expansive than the typical Indian restaurant. The quality of the food was fine, but nothing outstanding. Skip the saffron rice--very dry and no distinctive flavors. The service was good, and the prices were reasonable. Full bar.

I am giving it 3 star because of location and outside seating arrangements with fireplace and heater. Thats the best part. Food was okay. Mushroom masala was very oily and the onions were not cooked properly. I ordered sizzler which was good. I would go there again for the seating arrangements.

Food quality is very good and very good taste. It was like hidden gem for us in Monetery. Highly recommended.

We ate at both the Ambrosia Restaurant in town and the Ambrosia cafeteria-style place down on Cannery Row and really enjoyed both though they're very different sorts of places. The restaurant is more formal, with attractive gardens front and back. We ordered samosas as appetizers which were small and tasty with a variety of condiments given in a spice tray... More

Being Indian and having traveled across the world I have pretty low standards for Indian food outside New Delhi. But this place was even below expectations. The vegetable pakoras and samosas were average. Bhindi masala was the most dry I've ever seen, and some pieces of okra were raw. Don't even talk about the palak paneer - they didn't even... More

The food was very good (as Indian food usually is) and the service was ok. There was nothing superb compared to many other Indian restaurants we have visited so the rating is very good.
