GREAT VIEW AND GREAT FOOD !

While working in Monterey County, I asked a local where I should have lunch for good food and a great view on a lovely sunny warm winter day. She suggested I try Schooner's in the Monterey Plaza Hotel. I ate outside at one of the tables closest to the water. I was disappointed to find that the... read more

We had arrived from Paso Robles and were exhausted. I didn't want to go anywhere far for dinner. All the reviews were great at Schooners so we checked it out and very glad we did. We ordered a seafood dish for two. I wanted a local wine and described what I was looking for and what was recommended was perfect.... More

Actually it's for everyone ... It would just be nice to keep this place my little secret. But that's not keeping with the spirit of Trip Advisor. We went Saturday and really enjoyed the atmosphere. We have the fabulous BIG BIG Bloody Mary. Go enjoy the beautiful Monterey Bay.

My wife and I celebrated our 37th anniversary with a shared prime rib eye steak for two. Quite expensive at $85. We would have been happy paying over $100 for the meal! The service was outstanding. The artichoke potato chowder was awesome to start. The meal included a 32 ounce cut of meat with garlic mashed potatos and 8 asparagus... More

I always enjoy the beauty and surrounding scenery, but the food is lacking in all areas. I have even had lunch sent up to the spa. Just not good quality food in my opinion. I am very disappointed every time. ;(

Schooners is by far the best restaurant in Monterey, surpassing our treasured Montrio Bistro and I feel like a traitor making such a statement. But Schooners gets the prize. We stopped in Monterey heading home from SF for a leisurely couple of nights and elected to go to Schooners and not our fave as noted above. Excellent choice. The red... More

Service is atrocious for the price point. Food is forgettable save for that it's expensive. Food had no flavor, the octopus appetizer was rubbery. I'd skip it

LOVED sitting outside even at night with the moon shining bright and the waves crashing below. Server turned on a heater and provided a blanket for me and I was toasty warm!!! Ordered "Cast a Big Net" for two with Angry Prawns, King Crab Legs, Wood Baked Oysters, and Grilled Swordfish and it was delicious! Probably my favorite food and... More

Excellent service. You must try the seared scallops. Beautiful bay views. Full bar. Reservations will be an advantage and if you let them know it is a special occasion, they are very accommodating
