Clam chowder here is still my favorite, better than any I've found in Santa Cruz too. Fun dining experience at the bar for people watching.

The service is very good and friendly, and they act like they are a higher class restaurant. You also sit quite nicely with views over the Monterey Bay. However, the food was completely bland. We all had the Fish Hopper seafood combo (fried fish, shrimp and calamari) which didn't taste like anything; even the sauces, pepper and salt didn't help... More

We saw this advertised in the brochure we grabbed walking out of the parking garage. We wanted to sit by the water and the Fish Hopper did not disappoint. We had a view of the bay on 3 sides of our table. It was great - we watched kayaks and seals and otters throughout our lunch. Our server was very... More

My family of four came to this location after we were ignored and not serviced at a nearby winery. I'm glad we had an unfortunate experience at the other location, as the Fish Hopper was amazing. Great food, great view, and great service!

My wife and I were visiting Monterey after weeks in the deserts, and we wanted fish. We just picked a well rated restaurant in the Cannery district, not expecting anything much - other than good food, of course. We arrived at a busy filled restaurant, but felt taken very well care of. We were seated at a table near a... More

Monterey is a busy place if you are near the famous aquarium. We easily parked in the public parking lot on Irving, just 2 blocks from all the bustle. Was surprised to receive silver dollars as change from the parking meter. The Fish Hopper restaurant is just a short walk along bustling Cannery Row and only 3 blocks or so... More

Waited for a window table we could not get even though there were plenty of tables at 5:30pm. Hosts were very rude. My group got sick on the overpriced food. I think some of the reviews I see present are from people who know the owner. If you scroll down you will find how many ill on the food, maybe... More

We were a group of 8... 5 adults and 3 kids. We had reservations and were quickly seated with a wonderful view of the bay. The kids enjoyed watching the otters from the table. A few of the adults ordered the roasted halibut and prawns and couldn't stop raving about how delicious their meals were. The kids loved the pasta.... More

My wife and I stumbled across this Seafood establishment by accident but left well impressed. Food was delicious, excellent service and overlooks Monterey Bay. Lucky enough to watch the Supermoon rise over the bay. Stunning. It appeared extremely popular and the manager even stopped at the table to enquire that we were happy. Indeed we were. Look them up, its... More

I have dined here probably five times over the last ten years. My family and I were visiting the aquarium down the block and decided to come here for weekend lunch. I made the reservations on opentable earlier in the morning and we had a great booth with a view of the bay. Prior reviews raved about the clam chowder,... More
