We came in for the famous clam chowder and had to try the steak and fish. So glad we did. The food was amazing. Clam chowder met every expectation and then some. Chowder preference can definitely be subjective so for reference this one was creamy with the perfect balance of clam and extras. Seriously could have just eaten the chowder... More

The Fish Hopper is a regular stop for my family when we visit Monterey. Their food is fresh, well prepared and large portions. A good value and the service is steady and very attentive. The location can't be beat and the views are amazing. You can also reserve on Opentable which is smart because they do get busy.

My wife and are are seafood fans, so we decided to have dinner at the Fish Hopper during a trip to Monterey. We reserved a table over the water, as suggested by other reviewers and had an excellent view of the bay, Because it was after sundown, our view was limited to the lights on the far shore, and of... Service was good. Food, mediocre. We have the Ravioli and tried fish and chips. Had better at other places. Did find 2 bones in my fish. Yikes! Of course, very expensive. The scenery from our table was spectacular. Remember. If you order their food while you wait. You are not allowed to bring it in the restaurant. Won't go there... More

We had a great weekend in Carmel, and just happened to stumble across the Fish Hopper. The Service was excellent - Cindy was our waitress - and Ashley was the Assistant Manager on duty. Waitress was very knowledgeable, offered up great suggestions, which were spot on. Ashley checked on our experience twice while we were there to ensure our food... More

Really nice place to eat if you are visiting Cannery Row. Most of the tables have a spectacular view but try and ask for a table at the end of restaurant over the water. It is located in a great place with a lot of fun stores and boutiques around it. The food is excellent and be sure to try... More

I stopped here really just to try the clam chowder - but also stayed for dinner. I had a lovely table on the patio - overlooking the bay. The food was generally good, although not phenomenal. The clam chowder though, was absolutely delicious. Prices are a bit high, but considering the view and the patio, it was worth it.

We wanted to follow up from out visit last week and tell the world how amazing this gem is. Not your normal tourist spot, we had a great table over the water on the patio and the food was good. My wife and I had a wonderful time and wanted to thank Steven for making our experience personable and memorable.... More

This restaurant rides on it's location perhaps a bit more than the food. The food was good, but priced as if it is fine dining. To be fair, the location is pretty spectacular, and no doubt it is not a cheap location to operate a business. Ask for a table over the water if available. Emily is a VERY good... More

On a sunny, warm Sunday in late January, Fish Hopper was very busy but we were seated at our outside table within the promised 15 minute wait time. The Kendall Jackson Chardonnay was reasonably priced and generously poured. Our Crab Louis salad was fresh and ample and delicious. Good service and nice ambience. We shall return.
