Disappointed with Fish Hopper Restaurant in Monterey who won't allow a reservation of 18 people, even at a catering/party menu price. Reason: "we unfortunately cannot accommodate you due to an estimated high guest count this weekend." So even though I'm guaranteeing you 18 people already, am willing to book us as a catered party, you'll turn us away because you... More

I grew up coming here and when I went with my family and newborn baby we were told they wouldn't serve us b/c our baby was crying. My husband told the manager they were outrageous and the guy said it was the owners strong feelings not to let babies crying into the restaurant. It was a Tuesday at around 2:00,... More

I stopped in here with some friends for a drink at the bar after leaving the Monterey Bay Aquarium. It was an average bar scene but the prices were a little higher than normal, obviously catering to the tourist crowd. I settled on a beer but my two friends both got one of their giant boot-shaped mugs that held at... More

This restaurant was recommended by a car park attendant...we were not disappointed. We had prawn civiche, clam chowder....this came out Luke warm but was nuked to hot. Had the fish combo, and roasted turbot. The food was very good, delicious. The service was attentive. All in all, a very good place to eat.

This isn't just a tourist trap... so don't write it off! The fish & chips were delicious and FRESH, and the coconut prawns were very tasty. We were cruising around town on our day off and decided to stop in for lunch - we will definitely be back. The clam chowder was probably the best on cannery row as well.... More

Don't waste your time walking up and down the wharf tasting the chowders. This is the best! The last two times we visited Monterey we did the "chowder walk" and still ended up eating here. Walked right into the bar area and grabbed us a lovely table. Ordered two drinks that came out with a cube of sugar on the... More

we spent the entire morning at the Aquarium and then had a late lunch at Fish Hopper. We walked there from the Aquarium. Our food was really good. I had the bay shrimp salad and it was HUGE and yummy. there was avocado, papaya and lots of other yummy stuff and lots of bay shrimp. I loved it. My husband... More

Our seafood was excellent and cooked to perfection. Atmosphere was a little on the loud side but there is not much opportunity for acoustic treatment. Wine was very reasonably priced!

They have a decent gluten-free menu and seem aware enough; the food was tasty & well-prepared for a tourist trap-type place. During the day, the view must be swell. Management seemed top-heavy -- they could use more wait staff.

The restaurante has a kiosk that offers some appetizers with good values. My husband and I chose this place because it has a great view of the bay (great to take some beautiful pics) and we didn't have much time, so we picked some sandwiches up and we ate in the square which is enjoyable! Ps: careful with the pigeons!... More
