Breakfast Delight

Every day of our annual visit to Monterey starts with breakfast at the Old Monterey Cafe. Yes, it's crowded and, yes, it's noisy but the breakfasts are of good quality and the staff are both pleasant and efficient. On the weekends it is not unusual to have to wait for a table - in fact the line... read more

My wife's brother brought us here and it was a treat. Long and narrow, the decore is colorful and local. The wait staff was friendly, attentive and efficient. Regulars they greated by name. The portions were large and seemed to please everyone. Big menu so feel free to experiment with your choices. Enjoy

This is a friendly place, we went in AM and found that lunch items were also available. The portions are huge. There is a good variety of items with some ethnic influences . My husband had a potato dish and I had a Greek salad with shrimp. Despite getting the " small" size salad I did not finish it but... More

You cannot beat this place. A locals hangout for sure. Good home cooked meals done just right. Very busy, but efficient service. The waitstaff do an excellent job of keeping your coffee and water filled. If in Monterey do not pass this place by

Stopped in for breakfast on a Saturday morning before golf. Small place - busy - but we were seated quickly. Good service, fast food delivery, great food with decent size portions. If you like breakfast diners rather than chain restaurants, don't miss this one.

We attend jazz in Monterey every year & always look forward to breakfast here! Everything is always fresh (delicious salsa) and tastes delicious! Staff is friendly and helpful--always willing to make a substitution as we have special dietary needs. We will stop here anytime we're in town!

Has been a popular restaurant among locals for years. My own opinion is that the do breakfast best. Even if it is lunchtime when I go I still order breakfast. The huevos rancheros or almost anything with a Mexican sounding name are my favorites. Bring your appetite because the portions are large.

This is where I go for breakfast when I'm in Monterey. Great food and not expensive. Go early as it fills up quickly.

Within walking distance of the convention center, this place deserves your effort to walk over and enjoy one of the best breakfasts on the peninsula. Quaint, cozy, family-run and incredible food make this a staple for breakfast fare whenever we are in town, enjoy!
