Honoring Reservations Not A Strength

My son and I had 7:30 pm reservations on July 29th. We arrived on time but were told there would be a short wait. Forty minutes later, we were seated. The food was excellent, and I highly recommend the restaurant strictly on that basis as the service is, at best, just marginal. Our waitress took... read more

This place is in a way simple and great. You have a quite informal siting (I have been there twice, in two consecutive days, and I liked eating both at the table and at the bar), combined with professional and kind moods by the waiters. They have an inexpensive wine list, so do not expect rigorous methods when they serve... More

We have been going here for well over 12 years and never miss it. It is off the beaten path, parking can be hard, you will wait over 30 minutes even with a reservation and it is all worth it. The menu is small and their speciality is Sicilian holiday pasta which is a chipino like dish with pasta, but... More

We have been coming to Monterey for years going to the normal places around the pier and canery row but never found this place. Now with the internet long hidden gems can be found and our only regret is we didn't find it soon. The Holiday pasta is delicious and the grilled meats are also excellent. Prices are extremely reasonable... More

... in the opinion of many, anyway. Location is so far off the beaten path that it couldn't survive is people who live here didn't go there. They do. There's plenty of good fish in Monterey. You'll definitely get some here.

I'm a huge fish person, I have my doubts about the usual tourist haunts because you end up with a nice place and meh on the fish. This place was great. Not on Cannery Row but definitely the best place I've been in Monterey or even Santa Monica back at home. I loved loved loved the place. Not the fancy... More

Monterey Fish House is where the locals go to eat the freshest, most deliciously prepared seafood dinners in the area. This is no tourist trap; the exterior is very plain, located on a part of Del Monte Avenue that is industrial, right near the on-ramp to Highway 1. The hint that this place is something special is the lines of... More

This was our second visit to this restaurant, as we came through here at the same time last year. We very much enjoy eating here, the Chiapiano soup is very good with lots of shellfish and garlic bread. My beer was "skunky" as I think they had allowed it to get warm before they served it (it was very cold... More

The Monterey Fish House is usually where we like to eat dinner, but we were heading back home on a Monday and decided to have lunch there. It was extremely busy, but the waiter was fast and efficient. Was aware of everything that was happening around him and the service was execllent, food was also very good, a little pricey... More

What a fine restaurant this is. Went with the BF to lunch today. Cioppino and bouillabaise. The boullabaise had salmon, whitefish, New Zealand green mussels, shrimp, octupus, and squid in a perfectly cooked broth. Came with garlic bread. The cioppino was as good. The only problem with this wonderful place is the pricing, which now has crept up to $20... More
