My husband and I ate at the Monterey Fish House during our scuba diving trip at the beginning of August. We chose the restaurant based on reviews and were definitely not disappointed. We did not have a reservation and were able to sit at the bar after about a half hour, however our server told us that they reserve half... More

We had heard good reviews from friends and also from Trip Advisor and Yelp, so we came for dinner. Menu and service was very good, however I was disappointed. I had oak grill snapper and my wife had Crab cake and crab ravioli. The sauces were good and flavorful, but left Unsatisfied. Creme Brûlée was excellent though

Knowing that reservations are almost always a must every night of the week, we took a chance since it was early (5:30 PM) and there was no group of folks waiting outside. A group of five entered just before us and took seats at the bar due to not having a reservation. That still left two seats on the other... More

We were in Monterey for the Laguna Seca historic races and for Pebble Beach, and these events put a lot of pressure on good restaurants. However, I had reserved a table and so we avoided the wait that everyone says is so worthwhile. Our table was not actually ready, so we stood at the bar and watched the queue build... More

We spent 3 nights in Monterey and from the first night we tried to get here. We achieved it the last day. Let me tell you how they manage the crowded queue and then you can decide if you still want to go. Every single night they have more demand than supply, even double size they won't be able to... Sunday evening and queuing to get in...that's its popularity. I had local sole which was perfectly grilled. They offer "specials" off the regular menu according to local catches. Dishes are not cheap but still better value than Cannery Row establishments. Will certainly visit again.

Every year my wife and I go to Monterey in August for our anniversary. It has become customary for us to have dinner at Monterey's Fish House at least one (usually two) evenings while there. This year I had the crab cakes the first evening and my wife had scallops in a white cream sauce. We both enjoyed our meals... More

I would never recommend this restaurant to anyone. I could have done a better job. We told our waiter how unhappy we were with the food. The waiter said the "cook" was just returning to work from a back injury and he was just getting back to the swing of things. I could not believe my ears. We have friends... More

What a relief to find this great little place as an alternative to the usual tourist trap awful restaurants we've experienced in Monterey on past visits. It was worth the wait and everything we ordered was delicious. We can't wait to return. Don't even bother attempting the big flashy places on Cannery Row.

Fish was overcooked, veggies were slop, pasta that accompanied was terrible. Service was good, charred artichoke was very good. This is a place where the fried stuff is what you want, but just ok. Great wine prices.
