Best meal in California in a week

The food was unique, fabulous and presented well. The service was also excellent. Our server, Ryan, was exceptional. He was patient with the children and made great recommendations. It was our favorite meal the whole week we were in California.

We wanted to avoid the tourist traps and came here. I had the butterfish, which was delicious, and my husband had the pork dish (also yum). I thought it was great food at very reasonable prices.

I had the jerk chicken plate and subbed the rice for sweet potato fries. It came with fried plantains which were so good we ordered a side of them as our dessert. My wife had the fish tacos which were also very tasty. We haven't ordered Mai Tais since we were in Hawaii over 10 years ago. Dear god in... More

We ate here based on the trip advisor reviews and were not disappointed. All of the food we ordered was amazing and our server (I think his name was Jordon) gave us some great advice on places to stop on our journey south, which we took and was one of the highlights of our trip.

Stopped in after a day at the aquarium and had a relaxing dinner. The menu is geared toward Hawaiian style dishes and they nailed it. The fish was fresh and superbly prepared. The staff made great recommendations and was constantly checking to see if we needed anything. An excellent way o end a day at the aquarium.

Came back to Hula's hoping it was as good as last time and was not disappointed. They were pretty crowded when we got there but the wait wasn't long - we didn't even finish our first Dr Funk before we were seated. The huge list of vegetarian dishes is what draws me in, but my sisters said the jerk chicken... More

We arrived at Hula's Island Grill for dinner without a reservation, and it was busy! Not a problem, we were offered seating on the oudoor patio on a lovely couch with a blanket and a heat lamp, could not have been better! Our server was excellent--made suggestions and was extremely attentive, and had a great personality:) Our meal was delicious--ceviche... More

We had such a great night at Hula's! The vibe is retro Hawaiian, with just the right amount of kitsch. Our waitstaff was so personable, joking with us and making stellar recommendations. Their menu has authentic Hawaiian food, plus twists on classic island favorites. Everything we ate was gourmet food - not prepped by two guys and a frying pan,... More
