Having already enjoyed fresh seafood at Fisherman's Wharf, for our second night in Monterey we fancied some simple Mexican food excellently prepared. We'd spotted this place on our walk the previous night, read the reviews and decided this was the place for us. We weren't disappointed. From the lovely warm welcome we received at the door, to the diner style... More

Yummy homemade salsas and overall excellent food. The shimp enchilada was fabulous, as are the shrimp tostacos. Table service was nice and a change from previous years.

Excellent food prepared with fresh local ingredients. Add friendly service and a fine selection of homemade self service salsas including cranberry [loved this one] and fire roasted tomato. In honor of my arrival in the artichoke capitol of the USA, I ordered . . . what else???? . . . the artichoke enchilada which was delicious. Sampled the spinach portabella... More

We both enjoyed our tostacos, which were really big! We ordered two each and it was a bit too much. Good Mexican food with lots of seafood options.

Locals are often there. The chicken quesadilla is literally filled with chicken. Great deal and close to everything!

This is the very casual offshoot of Fishwife (Pacific Grove, Seaside). We stop here for lunch sometimes when in downtown Monterey though I don't see why you wouldn't go for dinner as well. Very fresh fish options plus some of the more standard Mexican dishes but done with a flair and a feeling that you are getting something quite fresh... More

Overall my visit to Turtle Bay was great; however, there was one thing I will address in the end. First, the parking. There is little parking in front, but plenty street parking around the restaurant, too include a bank lot on the weekends (BUT ALWAYS CHECK THE SIGNS HERE IN MONTEREY!) The place itself was a bit warm inside, but... More

This is a reasonably priced family restaurant with the usual Mexican fare as well as delicious seafood salads (with grilled fresh fish) and tasty bowls with beans, rice, choice of seafood and Caribbean vegetables.

This is out go to lunch or dinner place in Monterey. Can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Salsa is great. We bought their cookbook a few years back since we do not get to Monterey as often as we would like.

Now and then I get a little hungry for fish tacos. Surprisingly, good ones are hard to find in this town. One afternoon I was too tired for much else, so went in to get something from Turtle Bay. The service is casual. Get a menu and sit down. In my case, I was mulling over the menu for a... More
