High point of our stay in Monterey

We were seated at a table for 2 in the beautiful glass conservatory and the sommelier was very helpful, recommending a great wine for us. Food was very good too as was the service

I ordered prime rib over 30% of my 12oz cut was fat. When I showed to waiter I was told that all prime rib has lots of fat thats the way they come. I have had lots of prime rib at restaurants where I dont have to spend time cutting out all the fat from my prime rib. Another couple... More

We had just watched the Clint Eastwood movie, "Play Misty for Me," in which one scene takes place at the Sardine Factory. I thought the restaurant would be overrun with tourists, being so close to the water, but it was a cozy, relaxing, absolutely perfect night. Their soups are phenomenal - seriously, I can't think of a time I've had... More

Took my woman to the Sardine Factory for her birthday and what a great time. Called for reservation and was set up first class. Had a great dinner and fine wine. Our waiter was the best' he has been there for 38 years and nows the ropes. He even brought a birthday dessert and coffee for my wife too. The... More

Lots of ambiance. Very unique setting. There are multiple rooms, each with a very different decor. Our favorite is the room with the glass ceiling. Food is good, not amazing. Pricey, but so is everything in Monterey. Worth it for the experience.

Okay this is our second or third visit to this fabulous restaurant. If you are on a budget you might want to stay away, but we feel that the prices are very fair. Beyond that the portions are nice sized (unlike some botique restaurants that only give you one or two bites of something for dinner). Our hotel booked our... More

We came here on our honeymoon in 2009. This restaurant is warm and inviting. It was pouring cats and dogs outside, and we were in our drenched sweat suits, but they still invited us inside and found us a table. With everyone in the wait staff in suit and tie, we were sure that they would turn us away, but... More

Enjoyed a fun dinner at the Sardine Factory. A local colleagues made recommendations that were spot on. There are bar and dining menus. The abalone soup got us off to a good start. I had a sea bass dish which was a bit overcooked due to my own request. A colleague had lamb which she raved about. Others had selections... More

Glad we were not deterred by the name. Got a seat right by the fireplace to add extra warmth to a great setting. Creamy unusual abalone stew and a huge calamari sandwich with fries. I could only eat half and am mourning being in a hotel without a refrigerator. A shame to waste such a great dish.
