Had planed to come for the Early Dinner Menu. Ended up being seated in the Garden dining room that is like eating in a greenhouse. Ordered the basket of calamari puffs to share that are served with both a cocktail & remoulade sauce. That was so much it could have almost been a meal in itself. For the main course... More

Had heard great things about the Sardine factory however our experience was not fantastic. To start with we reserved a table at 9:00pm however when we arrived we were told they were running 45 minutes late. Not surprisingly the place was packed and it did appear that they had taken more bookings than actual tables and the early diners were... More

We ordered a steak and abalone and lobster. Instead he brought abalone and prawns. My steak got cold while waiting for my wives food to be corrected. We were seated in the glass room, I believe its called the conservatory. Nice setting but lacked ambiance. Very noisy. We did go to the lounge and have drinks and listen to the... More

I love this place!! This restaurant, hands down, is the best place I have ever eaten. The prices are high, but I've easily spent more in San Fran for less quality food and smaller portions. The food is cooked perfectly, the menu is interesting, and the atmosphere is great. I never knew food heaven until I've come here. I go... More

A very good friend recommended this restaurant to me. Perhaps he caught it on a good night. I knew we were in trouble when they took us to the back room by the exit door on a very chilly evening, we stayed cold ! The menu is extensive and the prices are enormous and the food quality is pathetic. I... More

We'd been here many times over 15 years when in the area. It was interesting to try the Happy Menu last Tuesday. What a disappointment! My dish of chicken looked and tasted overcooked by all points - risotto looked like mashed potatoes and tasted like baby food, quarter part of chicken (generous portion by all measures!) was dry, mushrooms in... We asked at several places around the aquarium where a good place to go for cocktails was, and were consistently told "The Sardine Factory". It certainly has curb appeal, with an old fishing boat sitting out front. Inside it offers a nice, old-fashioned restaurant/bar atmosphere, with subdued lighting and comfortable seating. Our server, Joel, had a good sense of humor... More

We read that this restaurant was one of the best in Monterey. We went on a week night so it wasn't very crowded, no wait. The inside décor is fancy. We almost felt like we were underdressed when we walked in, although we were dressy casual. It was quite fancy inside. It seemed fine, we never felt out of place.... More

Located a few blocks up the hill from Cannery Row in Monterey, this is clearly the best restaurant in Monterey and one of the best in all of California. Their signature "Abalone Bisque" is so good that President Reagan had it flown in to the white house (at our expense of course). The superb culinary offerings only start with the... More

Let me get that straight -- after getting the bill at above $100/person I was disappointed- I thought the food was good, the service too-I was not crazy about the decor nor how close the tables were from one another. We were seated in a greenhouse type room- and it felt a bit like the old Tavern on the Green.... More
