We went to the Sardine Factory, because you are supposed to when you visit Monterey. It is "vintage" in its decor and stylings. They had a piano man playing in the bar as you entered, which was a cool touch. We sat in the arboretum, which oddly has you sitting quite close to other patrons. Our server was lackluster and... We are frequent visitors to the Monterey Peninsula, and the Sardine Factory always remains a restaurant that we return to. Last night the food was over the top! My wife had the Veal Cardinal with lobster tails. The veal was perfectly cooked as was the lobster. The Cardinal sauce perfectly complemented the veal. I had the Abalone bisque and the... More

I brought my fiance here for his birthday back in August. We typically go to Stillwater for big occasions when we want to really splurge and get some great seafood. While the service was attentive and friendly, the food was sub par. I ordered the Paella, and my finace ordered the steak. It was clear my fish had been sitting... More

From the off it was a winner. Service excellent. Wine list comprehensive and decent price range. Setting was great but the food was the pinnacle. The freshest fish we found on holiday by a long way. The oysters, scallops and cod were off the highest quality. Ranking as one if not the best meal we ate in a very long... More

So long as a place is clean the main thing about about a restaurant is that it serves excellent food. The surroundings are secondary in my view. The Sardine Factory left me a bit ambivalent though. Set just off the main tourist route in Monterey it has a rather garish outside with some steps leading past a small fishing boat.... More

Our first dinner on our honeymoon, this place was perfect. We sat in the rear of the restaurant in the atrium and it was beautiful with its greenery, statuary and twinkling white lights. The food was good, a little expensive, but the romantic atmosphere made up for it.

Must stress we didn't have dinner here, so this review is only for the happy hour that takes place in the bar/lounge between 5-7pm. I sought this place out due to it being the bar featured in Play Misty For Me and found it to be absolutely delightful. There was a group of six of us, and the waiter who... More

We had read reviews of the Sardine Factory and all spoke of the excellent food. The food was outstanding but we were wowed by the service of Felix. He was extremely knowledgable of the menu and gave us recommendations. However, it was his pride of the restaurant that amazed us. He even gave us a tour of the restaurant. We... More

Had not been here in over 30 years. It was good then. It's better now. My wife and I we're celebrating our 25th anniversary. We walked around the Cannery Lane area where, among other things, we bought an absolutely delicious candy apple at the Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory. I asked the counter person there if he could recommend a nice... More
