My husband and I had dinner here last night around 9p. Nice dark cozy booth by the window. Food and wine were both good and they were offering 25 percent off bottles of wine. Service was a little slow and when we asked about our appetizer the waiter admitted he forgot to put the order in! Before heading into the... More

This restaurant as well as the Fish Hopper are owned by the same family, The Shake's. Consistently good quality seafood and service. Both locations offer great views of the Monterey bay.Their sandabs are melt in your mouth good. As for the clam chowder, not a lot of clams. There is a lot of creativity in the presentation of the dishes.The... More

We went to this restaurant because we had a discount voucher provided to us from the whale watching tour and of course the free taster sample of chowder that enticed us at the door. A free entrée of calamari also helped seal the deal (which was also delicious!). Great quality and highly recommended.

This place doesn't seem like much from the outside, but on the inside it is very romantic and a great place for your last meal before you head out of town! The chowder is delicious. The services is excellent. The food is plentiful and I would recommend this place for a very nice meal.

Went with a few friends for dinner this week. We started with calamari, then on to a cup of chowder, and then the Captain's Plate. The food was great, decent service and a pretty cool location. We sat upstairs, which I would think was a better view. The water, however, was absolutely disgusting. Not sure what was going on...but awful.... More

After whale watching - saw 60-70 humpback whales - we stopped at Old Fisherman's Grotto for a late lunch. We were hustled at the door with a free sample of their clam chowder. This immediately sold my wife but I wasn't ready. The guy offered us a free appetizer and that made the sale... so the lesson learned is to... More

We looked and the menu and were impressed, but the sign out front sealed the deal. "No Strollers, No Booster seats and people with loud children will be asked to leave." Now that might upset some people, especially if they have unruly kids, but there is nothing worse than paying top dollar for a good meal and having it spoiled... More

After a long day at Point Lobos, my husband and I were both famished. We wanted a casual seafood place to eat and found several on the pier so we thought we would try this one. (And yes, they lured us in with their tasty claim chowder.) After a 30 min wait to be seated, we finally got our table,... More

Found on trip and went along without a reservation, the staff told us a table would be 20-30 and gave us a pager (great system). We walked along the pier and within 20 mins the table was ready: candle lit, overlooking the sea, cosy. We had chowder and the Fisherman's wharf combination plate- both delicious! We ordered a bottle of... More

We dine at the restaurant after a whale watching tour. We tried to make reservation with open table but it was sold out. However at the entrance, the hostess gave us a beeper and told us that there was 1:00 hour waiting. We waited while shopping and walking the pier. The wait was finally 30 minutes. Excellent fish (flaunder). Steak... More
