This wonderful downtown Monterey bistro has a loyal local following, great cocktails and appetizers and a Rewards Club. In addition on Sunday-Thursday it partners with the nearby Osio Theater for 'Dinner and a Movie'. I only wish more restaurants did this. You stop in at Montrio, tell them you are doing dinner and a movie, purchase the tickets and either... More

Visited on my birthday with my wife, and were lucky to get in on a Thursday night without a booking. Service was excellent, and the food brilliant. Their treatment of vegetables is so imaginative I could almost turn vegetarian. Well OK, maybe not, because the lamb was soooo good. The atmosphere is bustling, so it might not be the best... More

This restaurant has been a favorite of ours so we decided to celebrate our 35th wedding anniversary - just two days before Thanksgiving. Andrew our waiter was great. The food missed the mark by a mile: the salmon was an over cooked tail served with a little polenta. Not a good or tasty pair. My mussels were too salty and... More

Food was terrific, wait staff was very friendly and efficient, and the atmosphere was fun. Crayons at every table to doodle on the paper table cover - a neat touch that expressed "This isn't a stuffy place!"

Went here without a reservation. And it was the beat decision we ever made. At first we were hesitant when 10 Minutes had passed and we had yet even met our waitress. I believe the owner was the one that noticed this and finally approached us herself. She was very nice and made some great recommendations and small talk. The... More

The food is always wonderful. The ambiance is delightful. The waitstaff are always pleasant. It is perfect for the end of the workday or for a romantic evening. The "dinner and a movie" menu, which you must ask for, is a real treat: You get reasonably priced, reasonably sized dinner AND a movie ticket. I suspect it is the best... More

Our group of approximately 50 who were attending a meeting in Carmel had dinner at Montrio Bistro. In light of the size of our group we had several options to pick from instead of the entire menu. I had a pesto steak and another person at our table ordered the salmon. My steak was very good and I was told... More

If you want good food when in the Monterey area, this is the place to eat! Be sure to make a reservation, as this place was packed on a Sunday evening. As we were walking in a fellow leaving said "All the meals are fantastic", and he was right. It took awhile to get seated because the people that were... More

When traveling, many of us want to start out with a plan, but also want to leave room for serendipity. We want to make A FIND! This is a report of such A FIND! We were fumbling our way through the historical district, map in hand, when a native asked if she could help us find something. In the course... More
