For the past 15 years, Chef Baker’s resolve to showcase sustainable seafood, fine quality meat, and Monterey County’s best produce in all of his dishes has made this renovated 1910 firehouse a local favorite. We feature a variety of appetizers, award-winning small bites, enticing entrees, and indulgent seasonal desserts made by our in house pastry chef. Choose from GM Kathy Solley’s extensive wine list, or try one of our signature cocktails by Anthony Vitacca. Montrio’s sophisticated, yet comfortable atmosphere attracts locals and passerbys alike with our great Happy Hour, Dinner and a Movie, and Sunday's Half-Priced Wine Night. Based upon the waiter's recommendations, we ordered the bruschetta appetizer and artichoke with tapenade. Both were very good. The entrees were great and the atmosphere was casual and friendly.

We went as a family right when the restaurant opened on a Wednesday night in mid-June. By the time we were eating our entree, the place was filled to capacity. The bistro is very inviting on the inside with nunerous tables and an upscale bar. I read some of the reviews, and a few people complained about the prices. My... More

Nice atmosphere and the service was pleasant. Our entrees were good but not anything to do a happy dance. Most entrees were in the mid to upper $20 range. We went on a Sunday night and they had 50% off on their wines by the bottle!

My husband had visited Monterey in 2009 while on a book tour. He remembered this restaurant as being particularly good so when he brought me to Monterey last month to celebrate our anniversary, this was the restaurant he chose. We arrived into town around 6 on a Friday evening. We walked over to the restaurant and the earliest they could... More

I went there without a reservation with 5 friends, although I would recommend making a reservation. The ambiance is great, nice decor. Service was great and the food superb. We had the fried calamari as an appetizer, my friend had the salmon and he said it was fantastic. Another person had the crab cales. everyone was happy. Will definitly be... More

Montrio delivers a consistently outstanding dining experience! The food is expertly prepared, the service is great--very attentive, responsive and knowledgeable. We visit Monterey 3-4 times a year and always look forward to eating here. It's always fabulous!

Ate here in early May and we were treated to one of the best meals of our 3 week holiday. We shared duck popcorn to start because we were intrigued and it was one of the maddest, but tastiest things I've ever eaten. Our waiter, Chris was friendly and attentive and was able to provide some really good suggestions, including... More

5/22/13 - We visited the Montrio Bistro as we had heard good things about it via the various on-line research resources (Yelp etc.). Our waitress for the evening was Charissa. Initally she was nice, personable. We had eaten a late lunch earlier in the day at Nepenthe Restaurant in Big Sur so we stopped at Montrio for appetizers and a... More

Cozy and interesting, this restaurant does Monterey justice. All our dishes were tasty and well presented. We had one minor goof-up and the waiter corrected it immediately without protest of any kind. I would go again.

This was quite a nice experience for us. Sometimes you need to eat but you don't need to eat a lot. There was a great selection on the menu. Since we were driving we did not drink anything but there great coffee. I would highly recommend the beet caprese and the spicy beans as appetizers. The waitress was very good... More
