l live here and this place is repeatedly voted the city's best by Monterey County residents. There has been a recent update and I find the new menu less appealing than previously. There are far fewer dishes available but this supposedly allows the kitchen staff concentrate on the most popular items and make better presentations. The food service and ambiance... More

We were fortunate to have discovered Montrio on Trip Advisor and elsewhere. While some of the restaurant recommendations have not panned out well (pun intended), we were delighted to be part of the scene at Montrio. With an eclectic interior, decorated as if someone had lots of fun doing so, this is a happenin' place. The food was delicious and... More

My wife and I were visiting Monterey for our anniversary weekend and I was looking for a well-rated restaurant. Montrio Bistro came up near the top in every search, and was #1 our of 224 restaurants in TripAdvisor - we're also giving an Excellent 5-star review. We made reservations (highly recommended) and had a little table for two all setup... More

Dined here twice during our stay in Monterey - first time without booking a table but, happily, they squeezed us in - food was fantastic with great menu choice. Staff were extremely friendly and a nice touch is when the chefs themselves bring your meal to your table. We loved the the local brew (on tap) (Peter B's Stout Resistance?)... More

We arrived at Montrio late, without a reservation and with nine people. Although it was very busy, perhaps because it was nearly 9 PM on Monday night, we were able to get in. The food was fresh, interesting, portions were just right, and the waitstaff was very knowledgeable and made very good suggestions both on food choices and complementary wines.... More

I am not a big fan of their main dishes, but all others are very tasty, the mussels is kind of Asian style, desserts are really good

My husband, two daughters (ages 12 and 10) and I enjoyed a nice dinner on our first night in California this past June. We enjoy traveling with our girls and exposing them to very good/nice restaurants. Before our two week trip to California, I researched the areas we planned to visit and decided on restaurants. I had read about this... More

Four of us dined there. The only sore spot was that even though we had reservations, it took over 15' to get us seated. However, things got better and better after that. Cathy the GM bent over backwards to ensure we got what we wanted. Scott, our waiter, helped us design courses based on the different things the four of... More

One of my all time favorite restaurants in Monterey for the past 15 years. Now there is a heated patio for al fresco dining without a reservation! We were in for their fantastic Happy Hour (4:30-6:30). We had amazing locally sourced padron chiles, white anchovies over peperonata on gaufrette potato chips, bacon wrapped prawns, mushrooms over polenta, and more of... More
