We took dinner here. We didn't have massive appetites but still managed desserts! My girlfriend had the bacon and egg salad which was very nice. I had the special ravioli and that was a perfect size. I liked the fact they had small plates , a bit like tapas and they did the same with the desserts. My girlfriend has... More

The main space is small and crowded and thus very noisy. The food was less than good to say the least the salmon that we ordered for 30 bucks was burned and bitter. For such a pricey place I would expect more privacy and better quality. Defently not the place for a romantic evening.

Delicious, creative, fresh cuisine in a plush, cozy setting--very romantic! Impeccable service and prices that reflect it. Undoubtedly the best place in Monterey.

Great spot for dinner on your vacation to the Central Coast. The food and service were excellent and the ambiance is hard to beat. We witnessed some very "interesting" people while waiting on our meal.

On a trip round California. Having been in LA, Vegas, SF amongst other places this has been the best meal we've had. Nice relaxed ambience in the restaurant. Good, attentive service, and really good quality food. I'd had halibut in the Picasso in Vegas earlier in the trip, but the quality of the fish, and flavour of the subtle lobster... More

I had a lovely salad and our family enjoyed all their dishes. The service was excellent, and we got some free appetizers with a referral from our hotel. I loved the ambiance and would go back, as the menu is very interesting and there were lots of fish offered.

We stayed 3 days in Monterey and this is really the only restaurant I would recommend. Everything was fresh, well presented and tasted great. We had the watermelon salad (excellent), calamari (good), lobster BLT (ok) and crab cakes (very good) for apps. The mains were salmon (amazing), roast chicken (very good), kobe burger (also very good). The desserts were all... More

We stopped in Monterey on our way up highway #1. Truth be told, Montrio was the highlight of our visit to Monterey - the rest of the town didn't really do it for us. The restaurant is reasonably downtown, and we were accommodated with a table off the street without reservation. We asked for the waiter's advice, and chose to... More

My wife and I used to love to eat at Montrio. They had some fabulous appetizers, but they seem have lost that special touch. We returned there after a two year hiatus, and found the portions small and not really very appealing. Something has slipped. Maybe they have a new chef; I don't know. The waiter was not very friendly... More

It sounds as if something definitely went wrong. No personnel changes have been made. Food portions have remained intact. If you should decide to return I would love to know in advance and make the next dining experience one to remember. More

We loved everything! The ambiance is luxury. The service is fantastic. And the food was exquisite. We started with the mushrooms with polenta and the truffled tater-tots. The mushroom dish was creamy and delicious. The tater-tots were crispy on the outside and creamy on the inside. The flavor was amazing. Next, the butternut squash, arugula, burrata, candied hazelnut salad was... More
