Perhaps it was an off night, but our service was not good at all and it seems that we were not the only ones experiencing poor service that night. The table behind us (who had the same server) wanted to speak with the manager because it had taken so long to get their food. Personally, I would not go back.

Great atmosphere, food crafted cocktails in a beautiful setting wit perfect service. if you are not up for a splurge try Happy hour for truffled popcorn and a perfect cocktail. Their Sunday chicken dinners are memorable and their Cheddar bacon biscuits are the best ever. It is my absolute favorite special occasion splurge

Came here for a nice dinner with the husband. There's a very unique old atmosphere with great drinks! Our dinner was a bit pricey and we were still hungry afterwards but the cheddar biscuits are worth it! Next time I would come back for the Sunday Chicken Dinner which looked amazing and worth the price!

Historical building.Unique bar scene. Efficient and friendly staff. Magnificent wine list. Approachable menu. Both times I have dined here are in the top 10 during my life. The menu is not very large, but wonderful things can be found in small packages. Every dish ordered by the six of us was spectacular. The truffle chicken is worth the hour wait.... More

I had dinner at 1833 for the first time over the weekend. The restaurant was completely booked but the staff let us sit at a table that was reserved for later that evening. The first thing that impressed me was the staff. Everyone was professional and made us feel welcome. The drinks are amazing (I recommend the Shiner) and there... More

I brought a group of 23 to this restaurant for a special evening. Reservations made well in advance, menu selected, wine selected - everything possible from my end to make the event memorable. Complimentary appetizers failed to appear. Wine not selected by me (added by a guest when I strictly prohibited it was added to my bill. I selected from... More

This fine restaurant occupies an historic Monterey adobe home with a rich legacy that can be recited by any of the servers. 1833 probably has the most well-stocked bar in all of Monterey, and the food is really good. Drink your fill at the outdoor firepits, then head inside for an amazing dinner. Historic restaurant in a historic town!

We went as a family for a special night out. One of my so s picked this restaurant. Waiter told us all entrees available, but was not the case when we ordered. Service was frankly just terrible. Slow, inattentive , I asked three time for water for my wife. At one point I personally had to get up and walk... More

Great location and very unique. Feels similar to restaurants in New England. Interesting drinks and menu. A tad pricey for a quick meal but the waitstaff is well-trained and very pleasant.
