Great food! Great restaurant!

Drinks - awesome! Food - unbelievable! Desert - no words to describe! We went there for a romantic dinner and I left there impressed with the place. The decoration is very pretty and the staff very friendly. We ordered the spinach dip for starters and it was really good! For dinner we had two of... read more

I had seen the most magical picture of the interior of Restaurant 1833, with an intriguing bookshelf bathed in golden light above a leather sofa. And so, when a friend asked where I wanted to go to dinner, I said, Restaurant 1833. Oops. The restaurant interior does no look like the glossy marketing photos. The elegant white oversized chairs are... More

Restaurant 1833 had been my favorite Monterey eatery for many years, but fell from favor after a less then memorable evening shortly after its recent re-opening. Last night 1833 definitely earned back my loyalty. It was nothing short of spectacular. The cocktails from Josh at the bar were world class, the dining service from Alex was attentive but not intrusive,... More

Very creative selections from one of the area's top chefs. This is a great destination for foodies. We ordered a good number of the small plates as we found them to be exceptionally tasty, creative and filling. Great wine list to compliment the creative offerings!

A beautiful, historic Monterey building with comfortable seating inside and outside, great drinks, wonderful service, and unusual but delicious food. Chef Franey(from Canlis in Seattle) has put together a creative menu with layers of flavours and textures you might not expect but work very well together. I have a serious food allergy but both Chef Franey and his staff went... More

Stumbled on this gem by accident. First impression was too dark but we got the décor eventually. The food was superb, from the Hawaiian bread (we could have eaten just that!), the Artichoke dip, the Mozzarella through to the entrees. We loved every dish and great value. One of the best meals we have had in the States. Need to... More

My wife and I fell in love with this place. Their patio is beautiful with a bunch of firepits and places to curl up and keep warm as you sip your cocktails. We stayed for dinner and loved everything we ate: The Everything Hawaiian Bread was delicious (think all the toppings from an everything bagel on top of sweet Hawaiian... More

I see what they're going for and it's not working. The physical space is great. A bit dark for my taste, but hey The decor is boutiquey Miami modern in old building. It works. The food is another story. The salmon- terrible.Polenta like gruel. Pasta- salty and looked like it came out of a children's macaroni box. We passed the... More

The food at 1833 was without exception for our party of 4 excellent. I had sweetbreads followed by chicken (something I never order in a restaurant but eat a lot at home, so my wife told me, so of course I ordered it in a restaurant). My wife had duck pastrami and seared salmon. Daughters had salmon tartare and scallops... More
