We feel so lucky that a friend recommended Bistro Moulin for a family birthday dinner. What a find! We loved the ambiance and the service was outstanding. Every dish we enjoyed was prepared perfectly, and the local fish I ate was one of the best plates on the menu. My husband said his mussels were nothing short of superb.

Though we go to Monterey regularly, we only discovered Bistro Moulin on this trip (thanks to a hi Zagat rating). Since it's close to the Aquarium we specifically made a rather late reservation to not have any kind of parking aggravation. Standard French items (terrine, moules, onion soup) were standouts. The specialty of the evening, cailles (quails) in cherry sauce,... More

We were in Northern California for 9 days, eating out every night and looking for a great food experience. And we were not disappointed (even out of San Francisco / includiiing Headlsburg North of Sonoma at Willi's for tapas). Generally pretty amazing. Highly Perbacco in SF's Financial District.... WOW !!! Bistro Le Moulin in Monterey was the exception on our... More

I was surprised to see Bistro Moulin at #11 in Monterey - I would have put it much higher! We were given seats on short notice on a busy night with no reservations, and had some spectacular dishes with delicious wine in a cozy, countryside bistro atmosphere. The food was spiced just right, bringing out subtle flavor without anything overpowering.... More

We had a very nice meal at Bistro Moulin even though neither Didier Dutertre nor Colleen Manni were there (67 Wave Street, Monterey, CA 93940, tel. 831-333-1200, E-mail: bistromoulin@gmail.com, web: http://www.bistromoulin.com/). Our server was friendly, professional and good. All the other servers helped too. The room is “bistro-y” but the tables are not close together. Audre had one (appetizer-sized) spinach... More

My wife and I enjoyed a first class French style meal here last week. I had excellent coq au vin, which I have rarely found in any restaurant. Perfectly done, excellent sauce and flavor. My wife was equally delighted with her duck breast, just slightly pink and flavorful. We had a very good bottle of Fleurie, the only French wine... More

You get personal service from the owners. This is a great place for dinner after a visit to the Monterey bay Aquarium as it is an easy walk up the hill. We enjoy taking friends to this restaurant and they always leave wanting to vist again.

This is a modest looking restaurant, and not expensive, but quite authentic. The chef is French and his wife is a California girl. We both had the nightly fish special and loved the balance of flavors on the plate. The wine list is very well chosen and heavy on (my favorite) French Burgundies and other French wines. Nice selection of... More

Given the reviews, I was expecting more. We had dinner here and were happy in general. The Jamón Serrano was pretty good. My dish, which was the special seafood crepe, was also good. I’m not sure how authentic the crepes are though; they were quite different from what I have had in places like Chauvigny, France. It was delicious nonetheless.... More
