Situated in the Casa Munras motel. We first were looking for a eastern Mediterranean restaurant as in the local restaurant guide in the hotel and were suprised to find a tapas style menu the food was of a high standard and of a great variety we had four different dishes between the two of us none of them were a... I understand why this restaurant is predominantly serviced by locals. The Spanish style tapas menu is wonderful. We shared several items, each was delicious. I particularly enjoyed the mussels and clams, as well as the olive and mint pintxos. The service was excellent, waiter very attentive, and the ambiance is very relaxing. The outdoor fire pit was occupied during our... More

Let start by saying that I am a big fan of Spanish cuisine and tapas. Esteban's did not disappoint. They have a classic choice of pintxos to start (small bits on skewers) very reasonably priced.. they have a great Happy Hour. If you know and appreciate Spanish food and tapas, try this place. if you are unfamiliar with this type... More

We went to Esteban's because we wanted to sample their Spanish dishes to see whether they are as authentic as they advertise. They don't disappoint! They have a good selection of tapas to choose from. We order the bacon wrapped date and a couple of vegetable and salad tapas. They are delicious. For the main entre we ordered the 'black... More

The Tapas were fantastic. 4 of us ate here late night on a friday. what a wonderful experience. The Stuffed piquillo pepper with Bacaloa, the orange salad, Hange steak and octopus were amazing. These are flavors you don't get at other tapas places. Stop by get some pintxos a great Spanish wine on the cheap and some really interesting food.

We enjoyed several breakfasts here during our stay. The atmosphere is lovely- sitting inside next to the fireplace or outside on the patio, under the heat lamps! There is a soothing fountain~ we love the sound of water. All of the wait staff were friendly and efficient. The American breakfast was delicious and satisfying. One morning, I tried the chorizo,... We had a good experience, but here's what I will do next time to make it better. Go during happy hour (5:00 to 6:30 daily) when the drinks and pintxos (tapas) are half price. Consider what you would like to drink first and then pair it with the food. I had a Mojito and my partner had beer. They tasted... More

We stopped by for dinner after a movie to try something different. It's a beautiful and inviting place. Great happy hour specials, but we were a bit late for that. I ordered the paella and G had the clams and mussels I had read a review that said the paella was salty. Right on! Both dishes were almost too salty... More

I've had tapas in Spain. These were more upscale "nuvo - tapas." They were good. They also have some main dishes. I had a paella that was not really traditional paella. I think it was a bit richer. It was excellent. It is not a large restaurant. We got seating without a reservation by the fireplace on a Thursday night.... More

Spending a weekend in Monterey we did the usual 'tourist things', ate at some of the wharf eateries - decent, but 'tourist pricey' and generally unrewarding. We decided on a nice, light, quiet, & early last dinner, somewhere off the beaten path and found Esteban's @ Casa Munras Hotel. Here's the trick: Happy Hour 5 - 7 each day. Terrific... More
