Late evening dining

Dinner was pretty fair, fish tacos, soft shell, a little cole slaw bed beneath the fish. Plenty of fish, lightly coated, not heavily battered. A mixed greens salad accompanying the tacos. Would have liked a pico de gallo to accompany the fish but they serve a small bit of sour cream, instead... read more

I brought my grandson to Monterey as a birthday present. We were having lunch prior to visiting the aquarium. I was concerned when my grandson asked why we were the only people in the place...and we ordered anyway... We started with a grande order of calamari, soggy, chewy, flavorless, served with a sweet chili sauce as in Thai food. My... More

I was excited to read that El Palomar had new owners- a mother and son who have restaurant experience. It was never a "go to" restaurant for me but I was optimistic that new owners could bring some good mexican food to Monterey. We decided to give it a try but the remodeling is still being done, the seating was... More

Stopped in here for a dinner and drinks. Margaritas were excellent. The staff were nice and friendly. My husband had the fish tacos and I had been craving for a hamburger all day. Didn't care for the fries though. It was an OK place to stop and within walking distance of our hotel!

Stopped in for lunch/snack and sampled the freshest civiche I have ever tasted. It was fabulous. Homemade tostados were very good as well. Returned for dinner the next night and was very satisfied with the steak combo.

Very good Mexican food with a good selection of beers. Really suited what we were after this evening.

This was a great place to eat. The mole was outstanding as was the menudo. Service was also especially good. The server was very patient as the menu is rather exhaustive and we were not familiar with all the dishes. When the server noticed that I was not drinking the sangria I ordered (not my favorite), he brought me a... More

I guess I had the new girl. Everyone else's food was hot except mine. My family took me to surprise me for my 50th. I think they were more disappointed than I was. Oh well. Management was kind enough to refund the meal. Everyone has their bad days

We were back in Monterey for an motorcycle race at Laguna Seca. We had dined at El Palomar a few years ago while attending a MotoGP motorcycle and really enjoyed our meal. We where not disappointed the meal and service where once again great.
