Came here because of friends who had actually driven down from SF to this little place. Now I know why. Fabulous sandwiches.

I'm writing about the branch of Gherkins in downtown Half Moon Bay at the north end of Main, shared with Fish and Frites. The sandwiches are fresh, entirely custom-made and huge. In an era of Subway ToGo Quizno generification, it is so great to have a big drippy lovingly crafted super sandwich...to split with your friend of lover. These are... More

As we were driving up the PCH my eye caught the shop image of the Gherkin with muscles! It made us chuckle so much we turned around and went in to eat. We shared a sandwich between the two of us, It was fast, tasty and everyone was polite. happy days! Great place for lunch or a snack!

The food here is excellent. I love the view of the ocean, even though it's slightly obstructed by trees. The staff is nice enough, just not quite good enough for a 5 start rating. The only other complaint I have is that it's always freezing, but that is the case with most places in the area. Overall, this is probably... More

The burgers, fries and sandwiches were top rate. My only negative is they need some ice for the drinks. The salads were okay but nothing out of this world. Brownies were worth the calories. Great selection of sodas and chips. The staff were really friendly and fun.

Bring your appetite or a friend, as one sandwich can easy feed two people. The ingredients are fresh and tasty. The owner, Elias, is a friendly, energetic entrepreneur. Supporting a local businessman like him is reason enough to stop here. You won't be disappointed! The sandwiches are absolutely delicious!

You won't go hungry, the sandwiches are huge! Crispy warm fresh bacon, fresh bread (we wondered if they make it themselves), great choices for sides and drinks. Great view, well decorated, clean place.

Great menu of large sandwiches and burgers that are made to order. Very fresh. Inside or outside seating.

This little hole-in-the-wall shop is a great place to get a good sandwich. A little more expensive than Subway, but certainly a lot better as well, with a lot of options. Will definitely make this a regular stop heading down Hwy 1 through the Half Moon Bay area, and avoid the overpriced places in the Harbor area.
