always a good place for Chinese lunch special

I usually have a no.1 combo which starts with the soup of the day, and then rice, sweet and sour pork and chow mein. Tea is included and all for $7.50

My mother in law loves the chow main here. We called for a take out of rice chow main broccoli beef and my favorite prawns with green beans. We have been coming here for over 20 years and the food has always been great. Jimmy is the owner and should be proud of his staff and establishment.

Was in Millbrae, so excited to have good Chinese Food, but instead used Yelp to find this place. Very Americanized. For example, you get forks instead of chopsticks. Clientele not Asian, but Caucasian and most older/seniors. Nicer than usual service and good english though. Ate and promptly left, not my type of place.

under the same ownership. The food may have slipped a little since it opened in 1983, but the menu has changed very little in that time. Jimmy opened up when Millbrae was Italian and had only a dozen or so Chinese restaurants (for its population of 20,000). There are about 30 now. (I haven't got around to counting.) So merely... What can I say? I hit this place every time I'm in San Francisco; it's one of my favorites. I've had many of the chicken dishes and several appetizers and all have been excellent. The service is friendly and the prices are reasonable. Give it a try!

We were a party of 3, craving some Chinese food. After trying to get into a couple of places and finding them closed, we ended up at Lai Lai at around 4pm for some really late lunch. First of all, the service was really good. The staff was truly friendly and attentive. We started our meal with some delicious Pot... More

We ordered take out tonight. We had the almond chicken and the prawns with green beans plus an order of rice. The order was ready when we went to pick it up. As always, great food and service.

While visiting a friend in the Bay Area, she took us to Lai Lai in Millbrae. The best Chinese Food I have had in years. Fresh and tasty. Hot and Sour Soup was top notch; tasty with just the right heat. The pork, beef and vegetable entrees were superb. We were served by Jimmy, the owner, and it was a... More

As many other have noted, this restaurant caters to local patrons, and many families. Service was fine, but the food (advertised as Mandarin) was mediocre; mostly saucy dishes.
