Nice Surprise in Merced

On the evening before journeying to Yosemite Park, we stayed in Merced and went out to find a place for dinner. After seeing all the fast food places in town we ran across the very interesting looking Branding Iron. A quick check of Trip Advisor revealed a lot of positive reviews so we gave it a... read more

Was just passing through Merced and saw this place on Google. It was one on the best pieces of prime rib I have ever had. Comparable to anything I've had in Chicago, Dallas, Houston or New York for half the price!!!!!

I tried this place thinking they have good steak since they're kinda pricey. I was told this place was good so I tried. I ordered for a medium well but the steak was well done there was no pink area whatsoever but our server said its medium well... Oh well I guess I can't argue with them. I say no... More

We visited for my lady's 50th birthday and it was a fantastic night. She had the coffee rubbed ribeye and I had the 16 oz Rancher Cut Prime Rib and both were fantastic. The serving staff was very attentive and knew the menu inside and out. It may be a bit on the pricey side but for a special evening... More

The restaurant menu is a bit overpriced for Merced, then again it's about the only "nice" restaurant in Merced. The food is good though. I recommend sitting in the bar area. Happy Hour is fair priced, the 2 bartenders/servers are polite, professional, and know their drinks.

My thought is they believe since they are the only steakhouse in Merced, they can screw over their own community by serving lousy food at extreme prices. It was SO embarrassing taking our visiting family here. Next time it's Sizzler or better yet, Taco Bell.

This was always a family favorite for birthdays and other special occasions. The restaurant has changed over the past few years, charging extra for items that came with your meal free for over 30 years. Very disappointed with the quality of steaks and prime rib in this same timeframe also. One visit everything is perfect and next time it's aweful.

We have been meeting family members here for a couple of years, used to be much better. We met last night, the waiter was awesome, but the food sadly, has really gotten worse. I always get scampi, don't eat red meat, hubby got steak. The scampi used to be really really good. Last night it was overlooked small prawns in... More

We have family in the area and eat at the restaurant a couple of times each year. After reading other reviews I wanted to share our dining experience from last night. The owner greeted us with a big hello when we walked in. The restaurant was very, very busy with several parties going on. The bartender waited on us as... More

My son wanted to come here because he had the tri-tip sandwich at lunch and he really liked it. That's what he ordered and he happily tucked into it. My husband felt the Prime Rib was bland and a bit overcooked. My lobster tail was expensive and overcooked. It came with a grainy baked potato and an ok salad. The... More
