Great Baked Goods and Local Restaurant

Four of us had lunch at Jantz's. Atwater is not a destination resort, and the restaurant is in a mall with an abandoned anchor tenant and some empty spaces, but do not let this deter you. Worth visiting. They bake their own terrific bread -- flavorful but not heavy. Pies out of this world. I... read more

My husband and I took his sister and brother-in-law here for breakfast today. The food is always very good. They only serve breakfast on Saturdays. That was fine with us. We had the "Farmer's Breakfast". Very tasty! Try any of them, they're all good.

I love Jantz Bakery in Atwater but the experience with Jantzs in Merced has been terrible. I have been there a few times and each time the experience gets worse. Last year I went with a friend and we both asked for ice water, the elderly waitress(I use the term loosely) gave us these tiny glasses of water. We both... More

We're very sorry about your experience on Friday. The girl who took your order is actually one of our lunch cooks. She was trying to be helpful but is not familiar with the breakfast menu and did not realize there was an option for 2 sides. She has been talked to about this now. As far as the bacon being... I'm very very sorry about your experience! Thank you for this review. Although it hurts us greatly to get bad reviews, we will definitely learn from it. I talked to you Friday morning and I paid for your meal. In retrospect, I should have done more for you. We love you and all of our customers equally and we will... More

Restaurant veggie sandwiches can be dull, tasteless and boring, but Jantz certainly knows what they're doing. Made with homemade, artisan breads and fresh vegetables, they can't be beat. I also had their macaroni salad and it was very good. Don't forget to save room for dessert. I'm not big on them, but their coconut cream pie is pretty special.

Jantz's is known for their pastries and breads which make this restaurant the place to go for breakfast for lunch. Ask for their secrete special syrup if you are having waffles, pancakes, or French toast. They won't tell you the ingredients but you might be able to figure them out if you have selective taste buds.

Hubby and I went to Jantz for lunch again today. We went in thinking it was past 'rush hour'. No.. But all was good. We were seated quickly, but had to wait a few minutes for service. No problem. We were greeted with the sweetest face and the biggest apology ever for our 'long' wait. Even though they are extremely... More

To start off with I liked the fact it's small. You don't feel crowed, but you do feel cozy. If you go for lunch, be sure and get there before 12. Otherwise your waiting in line. I usually order a half sandwich with soup. It's just enough to smooth a savage soul. I've tried some of the pies but haven't... More

The Merced restaurant scene is dominated by fast food & chains but this place is special. On a recent visit we ate breakfast twice, lunch once, and took home a pie. We kept going back because everything was good and the staff was so friendly. My first order was for a standard breakfast of fried eggs, ham, & potatoes. Not... More
