Very good pIzza with many fans. Friendly service, one TV for sports fans. Café type setting. Good beer selection, also salads.
The pizza ranges from very good to excellent but service is sloppy, impersonal and often downright rude. We only use it for take-out.
It's got an authenticity to the place. Sadly the pitchers of beer went up to a "normal" price - before they were small and incredibly cheap. Good selection of beer too. Now they are small and just reasonably priced. Pizzas are good and filling. Like to go with a group and push tables together etc.
Applewood makes a decent straight-ahead pizza. The crust is not "thick crust" but it's not "thin crust". The atmosphere is red-table-cloth italian from 30 years ago. The owners are Hungarian, which is why there's Goulash on the menu. Regrettably, the pizza world has moved on, with Howie's in PA, and Amici's around the corner, and Vesta in RWC, Strada in... More

My daughter ordered pasta alfredo which was just okay...she left most of it in favor of the pizza. We would definitely return to this restaurant if in the Menlo Park area.
I've always loved the flavor of Applewood, but at times they used a little too much of everything--sauce, cheese, crust. The atmosphere inside is pretty quirky, as it sort of has... More
As you enter the rustic atmosphere of Applewood you are greeted by the smell of fresh cooked pizzas. Wonderful soft crust envelopes you in a pizza dreamland. Rich sauce with perfectly melted cheese not to oily and yet plenty of cheese. A must try for anyone needing good pizza.
This is as close to the Seinfeld episode involving the Soup N.... That I can remember. The staff not only does not care that you are there, they prefer that you weren't! Self serve from the menus to the plates and utensils. I refused to bus afterwards. The pizza however is possibly the best that I have ever had. Perfect... More
