Great take-out pizza in Menlo Park

We’ve done a few take-outs from here when we happened to stray from Palo Alto, which seems to have no decent pizza. We tried Applewood’s delivery once, but it was rather slow. This place fronts onto El Camino Real, in a busy section of El Camino in a busy part of a busy little city. No steps at... read more

Met with some friends after a workday and they told me this is one of the "old time" local pizza hangouts. Food and pizza was good in a relaxing environment. Finishes look a little dated, but maybe that is intentional to retain the old style look and feel.

Got takeout from the counter in the restaurant. Server gave us water and let us sit at a vacant table while we waited. Pizza was of a high standard and hot when we got it home to eat.

This pizza, better than Dominos class, is borderline stinko - perhaps decent for California standards, particularly suburbia, but relative to true New York style pie, a joke. There are a few spots in SF where you can still find a decent slice, but unfortunately, not on the Peninsula (that I've found), including next door in Palo Alto. All the same... More

We have been coming to Applewood for years. We have tried other local options like Amici's and Patxi's, but we always return to Applewood because it is our favorite. We have eaten at the restaurant, very low key, casual (a bit outdated decor) and we have taken it to go as well (from Applewood 2-go across the street). We have... More

I used to go to Applewood exclusively for pizza for several years, then I discovered Paxti's and Amici's and the romance was over. I hadn't been back to Applewood in almost 2 years. I stopped in one night for dinner with my family and realized again why I used to be a regular. The pizza is delicious. The Milano and... More

Great pizza, delicious toppings. I usually prefer thin crust, however, Applewood turns out a great pizza! What a nice surprise. Bonus, it travels well (unlike some local, pricey competitors) for home consumption.

For upscale seating and wine, we go to Amici's, for better pizza we go to Round Table. I especially like their Vegetarian Gourmet. On Tuesday's they offer 30% off. There was a large family gathering of at least 14 there who obviously make it a regular thing. They weren't eating the VegGourmet.

Always a treat to go there with my kids. Try the langos -- a Hungarian specialty - fried dough with garlic and salt.. The pizza is great -- possibly because the dough mixture used might have something in common with the langos. Also a great selection of beers. Decor needs some modernization - old style dark wood, plastic plants but... More

Very good pIzza with many fans. Friendly service, one TV for sports fans. Café type setting. Good beer selection, also salads.
