Eatery prices in a pleasant atmosphere. Food is blend of Korean and Japanese food, not spectacular, but quite tasty.
I happened across Juban as I was walking in downtown Menlo Park - and got their lunch special for less than it would have cost me to go to the McDonalds a couple blocks away. But this was real food, Japanese barbeque served with kimchi and rice. Well prepared, quick, and the service came into play when my sister called... More
Self-advertised as a Japanese BBQ, it is that, but with a twist -- you get to do your own grilling at the table. On the advice of our dinner companions who had eaten here before, we ordered the "Deluxe Dinner", which includes servings of three entree selections. We had a double order of ribeye and single order of salmon each;... More
The family enjoyed dinner at Juban, the cuts particularly the rib eye were really good. We tried the fish, chicken, prawns and the mushrooms, they were well marinated and tasted very good with the white rice or bimbimbak (actually a Korean rice dish) Yes, we had to grill the food ourselves but that's exactly what we wanted as the meat... Other reviewers are exactly correct. It's a good looking place, and you can take a date there or do a business meal, but the grill your own thing gets old, and it's pretty expensive for what you get - which means you have to keep ordering.
At Juban, you cook everything yourself right at the table, which is nice in theory, but not so good in practice. First of all, if I'm paying that much, I probably just want it cooked by an expert chef anyway. Secondly, the self-cooking creates an awkward situation where you're always waiting for that next piece of steak to be finished,... More
The food was okay, selection is decent but I wouldn't recommend this place.
You cook the dishes yourself, with a grill in the center of the table - it can be very fun. The meats are excellent, always wonderful cuts, and the kimchee is great.
Nice ambiance. I was able to grill beef on the table top. The food was very light and delicious. Only setback is the limited lunch hours from 11-2pm.
The smell is what drew us inside. Fun cooking at the table. Happy, helpful staff. Delicious sauce. Get the ribeye. The skirt steak was too tough for me. Saw lots of Stanford parents there taking their sons/daughters out for dinner. Graduation was the next day.
