Great waitstaff that knew the menu and wine in depth. The first course cheese plate was great as we're the 2nd plate meatballs. The main entree -3rd plate, lamb with truffle oil was sub par. Although the lamb was cooked beautifully, the glaze was without flavor and left the overall meal flat. For the price premium here, I expect a... More

have dined here several times.........off the beaten path in a residential area.........nice atmosphere.....cozy and attractive decor.......good portions on most items.......a bit pricey on the main courses....most around $35.........but excellent and interesting preparations....excellent service.......decent, well-selected wine list.....$25 corkage....moderate noise......try the chicken.....one of the best ever....a definite repeat.......almost always busy so book ahead.

Let's start off with why I gave this place 4 stars instead of 5. This place had everything I was looking for: local, organic fare with delicious-sounding descriptions. It was in the right location to allow me to meet a friend I hadn't seen in over a decade after work while on an out of town business trip. The menu... More

Our son and his partner live in Palo Alto and chose the Flea Street Cafe for the first evening of our visit and it was outstanding! My main course of short ribs were beautifully flavoured and just melted in the mouth! The accompanying vegetables were also delicious as were the desserts - my son's Bourbon chocolate dessert was quite unique.... More

It had been some time since I last ate at the Flea Street Cafe. Visited for dinner and here is my review. This restaurant focuses on creative, unusual if not unique, entrees made as much as possible from organic ingredients some of which are from the restaurant's garden. If you are looking for unusual, creative, excellent tasting entrees at the... More

Jessie Cool has created a great restaurant with an eye on sustainability, local sourcing, and great, mostly organic food. The menu is defined by what is in season so the creations are always a bit different each time you visit. If that is not enough, they always have an interesting wine list to top off a great meal.

Nestling into the pillows along the banquette seat, I concluded Flea Street really is first on our list of area restaurants, for several reasons. First, our server was friendly and helpful and respected us as diners, who were in his care for the evening, and he carried out his duty of ensuring our enjoyment while at his table. Perfect!. Second,... More

Pros: 1. Joel, the maitre d', who was lovely and helpful. 2. The rest of the wait staff were very polite and pleasant. 3. The overall ambience was very comfortable and relaxing. Cons: 1.The menu is very limited. I had been looking forward to a roasted duck breast, which wasn't on the menu. Most of the choices were unappealing. 2.The... More

There's so much that I want to love about this place. Female chef. Organic, sustainable. Exceptional service. But somehow things just didn't work for me. For starters, the setting is a little unassuming. It's in a short, low-slung strip mall with cracked sidewalks and didn't quite have the ambiance that I expected. Yes, the food and wine were very good.... More

We dined at Flea Street this weekend as we took visiting Aussies on a "Foodie Tour" of the Bay. Area. We had just been to 3 of the Top Ten Zagat rated restaurants in San Francisco and expected this to be ranked 4th in our evaluation. BUT, we all four voted it 1st! The food was even better than in...
