The menu is a good reflection of what you would find in a bistro in Paris (for example) and the food is an accurate representation of each dish. The food is slightly more modern than the local competitors, without the attitude. The overall experience would be of a smaller city in France than of Paris, itself, Definitely the service is... Stopped in with friends , for dinner. We tried several selections , beef , shrimp , and something else ? Everything was ok but not great . The prices were reasonable for the area but there are better places to go in the area for the value . The service good which was a highlite . For me , I... More

You can't go wrong with this friendly but authentic French-style bistro on the main drag of Menlo Park, Santa Cruz Avenue. They have a few outdoor tables to dine at if it's warm outside - otherwise, their cozy, almost romantic bistro is very comfortable. The tables are not too close. It is not Michelin-star fare, but you will get very... More

Food was average - not great - but the service was so weird that I felt not only uncomfortable but horribly unwelcome. I would never return. It's bad enough when a single employee drops the ball but when the management is also negligent then that's a sign better to spend my $ elsewhere. Much better options close by - Palo... More

If you want traditional French Brasserie style food, Bistro Vida is a good choice. I live in the area and like to come here on cool nights for classic braised dishes like coq au vin that I don't have the time/energy to cook for myself. Prices are very reasonable considering it is in MP -- Left bank a few doors... More

Visited some time ago for an average mid-week night out French brasserie sort of dinner. What a nightmare. The food was mediocre, at best, & the place was virtually empty at prime-time & only after getting the bill, ~ $200 for two, including a couple glasses of wine along with a shared appetizer & two entrees, I realized why. Avoid!

Though I don't really know the owner of Bistro Vida ( we say hello and I murmur a few words of French in hopes of impressing), I'm guessing that at some point he said: "I just want to re-create the cafes I used to know and love in Paris." I think he's done it. Vida manages to perfectly represent the... More

I like Vida for a change of scene from Left Bank, but feel that the latter has better food. I do like the outdoor eating area.

Escargot not on the menu, just ask and voila! The slice baguette is crusty and yeasty as it should be. the steak frites goes down well with a Cotes du Rhone. The skate is lovely and buttery. The service is brisk and good. The interior is welcoming and the vibe just right. It is a joy to have this just... More

Enjoyed lunch here with a friend and plan to go back for the steamed mussels with pomme frites! We both had the brie, tapenade, cucumber sandwich on a baguette. Though I couldn't taste the tapenade, this was a very generous sandwich. The bread was very good and the brie was melted and gooey. It was served with pomme frites and... More
