A little bit of Paris right in our backyard

My husband and I first went to Bistro Vida last summer. We had typically dined at the Left Bank just next door. We were extremely pleased with the staff and the food was wonderful! We found the atmosphere more relaxed and friendlier. We went to Paris last December and then followed up with an... read more

Had a lovely lunch at Bistro Vida recently. It reminded me of the fantastic cafes of Paris. Worth a special trip!

We took some relatives to lunch at Bistro Vida. The food was very good, and the receptionist/server (yes, she did both) was o.k. The restaurant was pretty busy, and it was clear that an additional server would have been desirable. At the end, the owner/manager was helping, but he was not there at the outset. We were served in a... More

Everyone in our group thoroughly enjoyed their meal! Omelette was delicious, lamb was tasty and the gnocchi dish was licked clean. The staff was courteous and the ambiance was very European. Highly recommended, we will be back

I should have walked away when the place was packed and the only place to sit was the bar. I like ordering from the bar but the staff was clearly in the weeds. People were chasing down staff with their credit cards. I was about to leave but a cheerful waiter appeared with menus and didn't seem stressed, So we... More

We went to Bistro Vida after seeing Midnight in Paris just around the corner on El Camino one night when they said if you save your ticket stub you can get a free glass of wine at this restaurant. It was really like just stepping into a Bistro in a back street in Paris. They have a good wine selection... More

We made a reservation for 6 via Opentable and they didn't have it listed in their book. Never had that happen before in the 15 years I've used Opentable. I showed them the reservation confirmation to prove we did indeed have a reservation. We waited 15 minutes while they put two tables together. One of the tables was much smaller... More

You get what you expect at Vida; it's billed as a French Bistro, and you get just vthat, no more no less. By American standards it delivers what it's supposed to: hearty French style cuisine in a simple unpretentious setting. The scallops on a bed of asparagus risotto were outstanding. The wine list has many shortcomings: not enough variety, and... More

A gem of a restaurant in downtown Menlo Park! Ali and his staff are always genuinely friendly and attentive. The ambience is wonderful as is the food. Highly recommend Visa Bistro for lunch, dinner and/or brunch.
