Had a couple hours without kids and looked for a nice brunch choice. Long story short, the lunch meals that we saw carried past looked good, but the chorizo wrap and beef hash we had were fairly bland. You know the meal is less than exciting when the highlight is the butter they give for the bread. I think this... More

Ate here recently for an anniversary dinner. Although the restaurant was busy when we arrived around 8:00 pm, the service was consistently attentive but not overbearing. My husband and I both ordered fish, which was excellent, and shared an ap and desert (plus a complimentary cupcake for our special occasion). The menu isn't huge, but appears well-curated. My only complaint... More

I dined here on a friday night. The hotel is lovely and it has a great ambience to it. So does the restaurant. The scenery is great overlooking the hills. Also, the service is great and the sommelier was really attentive. The food though, was mediocre. It was an attempt to be a Michelin restaurant but it failed in flavour... More

The setting for Madera is lovely, and the outdoor seating a bonus, but that doesn't make up for the deficiencies. The Staff was most cordial but slow, lacking in attention and follow through. Our orders were incorrect, but they provided the asked for times w/o added expense. The Food was nicely presented and was good, but not great. The biggest... More

Took a friend for a birthday lunch. The busier the restaurant got, the less attention we got. Had to ask multiple times for ice tea, bread, (but it was delicious). Our portions were ample, but as another reviewer said, I agree, VERY salty. The waiter was nice and brought my friend a birthday cupcake at the end of the meal.... More

Service was standard (nothing to write home about); food and menu were quite lacking. I am a self-proclaimed foodie that loves to experience all the creativity that chefs showcase through new ways to serve up the same ol' ingredients. So coming to Madera was a huge disappointment and neither my husband nor I can understand how on earth it even... More

I work in the same office park as Madera, and there are few restaurants in the area, so I am often required to eat lunch at Madera on business lunches. Most of the entrees are either laden with butter or too salty to eat. I have ordered the salads many times and they are OK, but any other entree is... More

Madera is supposed to be one of the best in Silicon Valley. It's certainly in one of the best hotels in Silicon Valley. I have never been delighted by a meal at Madera. The service is great. The staff are great. The problem for me is simply the menu. It's limited and pretentious. On any given night are there more... More

We had a party of 8 for a special occasion. Service ranged from 1 star to 5 star during the course of the evening. The wine steward had two breakdowns from the usual standard I'd expect at an establishment like Madera. The food was excellent to superb - as it has to be, at these prices. We've had good luck... Starting with the wine list, prices are over the top. $50 for a half bottle of Ridge Zin, onto starters for $15 (small bowl of soup; small dinner salad) and entrees in the $35 to $40 range, you expect excellent food and service. Overall the service was very slow, the plates themselves were oversized and the food portions were small,... More
