Lots of chatter about whether the restaurant of today compares to before. We have no idea, and does it really matter? We thoroughly enjoyed the lovely garden room, expert service and tempting menu. When Margaret Fox owned this restaurant it was a destination restaurant. The food was incredible. It has been several years since she retired and the restaurant has been through several owners. Just returned from a fabulous trip to Mendocino. Out of the 4 days spent, my friend and I enjoyed 3 different meals at Cafe Beaujolais! This place is the best. They make fresh bread in a brick oven that is to die for. The food is fresh and organic. We had salad a dessert for lunch and I would recommend this restaurant to even the toughest food critic,but be nice to the wait staff. Cafe Beaujolais is a good restaurant, but it is not worth the high cost. I ordered the sturgeon, and my partner had vegetables in a crust. Both dishes were very good but were also overpriced.
