We had breakfast here on the two days we were in Mariposa, and dinner one evening. Surprisingly, it was the only All-American diner we visited during our holiday, but it lived up to the best of the breed. Breakfasts had a good choice from the grill, plus more "healthy" options, local jams, and decent coffee. But get there early -... More

When you think of your traditional, all-American diner, this place is it. The food is hearty and plentiful, the staff is friendly and the place sits on the heart of the main street. The short-order cook is a beast at what he does and is a pleasure to watch if you sit at the counter.

We ate here everyday for breakfast during our visit. Omelets were great, chicken apple sausage is a must have. Hot yummy food and great service.

We enjoyed dinner here after a long day hiking at Yosemite. I had the bacon mac and cheese and the butternut squash soup. Everyone seemed to enjoy their food, and the atmosphere was very quaint.

Searching for a decent breakfast on our way from El Portal to San Francisco, we ended up at Sugar Pine Cafe. If ever during our three week trip through the USA we visited an 'All American Diner', with all the classic ingredients such as friendly service, honest food and a pleasant atmosphere, this was the one that stood out.

Having spent two days in El Portal, we were heading from our hotel and looking where to have breakfast. The young girl who took our name was pleasant! The service was resentful of the tourist. Why do I say that...I over heard of of the mature waitresses talking to a local. The was ok, nothing special. The extra long wait,... More

If you like classic American diners (red vinyl booths and a counter to belly up to) this is your place. We had a tasty breakfast that was reasonably priced. Try the sourdough toast- it's homemade and quite good. Tip- get there early. Seating is limited and the place fills up fast.

If I could just rate this place on food it would have gotten a higher rating. The food was great! There were 5 of us in our party and everyone got something different ranging from the turkey burger, to the pork chop. All enjoyed what they got and agree with previous reviews that the fries were top notch. However, the... More
