After watching the movie "Chef" - I _had_ to try cuban food. That, combined with the opportunistic visit to Marina Del Rey resulted in a lovely dinner. Fried plantains with home made salsa are served while you look over the menu - much more flavorful than chips, and even (I hate to admit it) bread. As I was in a... More

Great food! We were so pleased with our choices - chicken tortilla soup, black bean soup, and jicama shrimp with plantains. Very good! But, service was incredibly slow. We had 2 waiters before our 3rd waiter came to get our order. Not cool. We asked for the check when they served our food (based on the wait time to order)... More

We have been to Mercedes twice for dinner and once for breakfast and have loved the food every time.. . BUT the service is SO slow. If you go with that mindset and you aren't going to stress over it, the food will be worth it. They have a small outdoor patio area that we enjoy with a view on... More

Ordered a crab cake appetizer. It was quite dry and very bready. I had to order extra sauce so moisten them. Taste was good (like breadcrumbs) and when I asked for extra sauce, I was given habenero mayo. Sad sad sad. Drove from AZ expecting good seafood and am disappointed. My husband ordered the ropa vieja, which was good but... More

There are a bunch of restaurants at the end of Washington St where it meets the ocean. They all look like tourist traps or bars. Our hotel suggested this one and it was great. Sat on the porch, where many people bring their dogs. Food and drinks were good and we had fun talking to people sitting around us.

We had a very nice lunch. The the food was delicious and generous, a solid value for the money. We sat outside and thoroughly enjoyed the beach/street scene.

A lovely place near the beach. We visited more than once on our trip and found the food, service and atmosphere consistent each time.

Had a wonderful breakfast outside before a cycle to Santa Monica. The pancakes were so light they almost floated away and the Arizona Benny was heaven on a plate. Really good spot for people watching and watching the local world go by. Would definitely go back.
