Authentic Japanese Sushi done right!

The closest thing to an authentic Japanese Sushi Restaurant down to the warm soft rice and perfectly cut fish. No frills, no mountains of baked scallops slathered with mayo or deep friend crab legs poking out of 12 foot long roll. Just classy, fresh, perfect sushi!

Freshest, most delicately and appropriately flavored sushi for foodies. Trust the chef. Service is very good. Efficient and attentive. Tipping strongly discouraged as they add a 16% service charge to your bill. Clean, busy, pleasant and delicious. Have been there multiple times and it's consistently excellent. Always very busy, so go early if you can.

It's slightly different from the Sushi most are used to but still very good. Fish is always cold, rice is warm and the seaweed is crispy. The combination of the three temperatures and textures makes the Sushi quite good. Don't go here if you are an a la carte Sushi person. Try the, "trust me" or the "nozawa" sets. Also... More

This is my sons best sushi restaurant and mine. Their sushi is so fresh and just melts in your mouth. I'm not kidding! Presentation is pretty/fancy.The restaurant is small and nice. I usually like to get dressed up to go at night, but casual is fine.It is a bit pricey, but worth it. The place is usually always busy, call... More

We are sushi fans but the experience at Sugarfish was certainly at a different level. The Marina del Rey location is in an attractive shopping center and the space holds a good crowd, considering its relative narrow nature. Service is prompt and the staff does explain the items. Most importantly, it is a different type from the standard roll concept... More

This place was a great stop on my visit to LA. The sushi menu here is extremely simple. No complex rolls with multiple ingredients - only single fish, simple items like salmon or tuna rolls. The flavor of the fish and rice really come out this way. The rice here is served warm and has a unique flavor so I... More

Had the chefs choice and were delighted with both the service and the food. Each course was fresh and perfectly prepared.

Sugar Fish is a reliable sushi option in general when you have time to wait (and wait and wait for a table). But don't get fooled into ordering a Trust Me to go - not only is the selection different and smaller, you lose all the Nozawa specialty (warm rice, fresh tasting fish, ample sauces).

We were recommended this place by a local. This is by far the best sushi I have ever eaten at this price. Have the 'Give me a try' menu. You get to try a bit of everything and it is all delicious. Will definitely be going back.
