Duke's Malibu has brought the excitement of Hawaii, Waikiki, and surfing to the mainland. The spectacular oceanfront location on Pacific Coast Highway offers over 300 feet of romantic oceanfront dining and memorabilia from both Hawaii and California surfing history. The Barefoot Bar, looking south into the lights of Santa Monica, is a great spot for drinks and casual food with friends.

Great view

The view was awesome! Disappointed in the breakfast burrito. I asked if it was breakfast sausage, sausage links or what. I was told it was crumbled breakfast sausage. It came out and it was smoked sausage. Would have gotten something else if I had known. Took forever to get menus but the server... read more

We have been to all of the Duke's locations. This is the worst by far. Great view, but marginal food and HORRIBLE service! We will never go back.

First of all I lived in Hawaii for quite a few years. Every Friday we went down to Waikiki to walk around and ate at the Dukes there. Mongchong is my favorite fish of all time. Unfortunately they don't have that here in California. Regardless, they have delicious preparations of fish. I enjoy eating my halibut with Lilikoi sauce. Usually... More

Whenever in LA, this a must do on our itinerary. The location is exquisite, the surf breaking just outside the windows. The service is always professional and friendly. And the food is delicious. It is ono.

This experience was outstanding. I totally enjoyed the history of Duke's and then to meet "Gidget", the real one in person made it so special. We enjoyed the food tremendously. The dessert "Hula Pie" was so wonderful and we had to share it because it was so big! I believe that if you want to experience Malibu and eat on... More

Since I am on a somewhat special diet I asked to have a dish on the menu with the vegetables simply steamed. I received precisely 4 steamed asparagus which were only OK and a sliced avocado to go with a simple piece of grilled fish. $29 plus tax plus tip PLUS parking. AT LUNCH. Food was only ok.

We've had a hard time finding good food in Malibu. This was surprising. I expected bad touristy food but it was really good and reasonably priced compared to other oceanfront dining in Malibu. I'd go again. Service was also thoughtful and fast.

Ask for a window table and take in the gorgeous Pacific sunset to offset the very average food at Duke's. Weirdest coconut shrimp ever (shrimp coated maybe in coconut flour instead of wonderful shredded coconut??) that was tasteless and unaccompanied by any dipping sauce. Our waiter was invisible and we had to beg for water, bread, our check. Malibu Dukes:... More

My wife and I, along with another couple, enjoyed lunch in early January at Dukes Malibu. I was aware that the location and view would be outstanding but, having never previously been there, I had to rely upon other sources to determine if this would be a good choice to entertain our friends. The four of us were very pleased... More

We ate lunch here on the way to Santa Barbara from LA. The decor is tradtional but the view over the sea is stunning. If you can, wait for a table by the window. The service was good. I cannot remember the name of our waiter but he must have been a jobbing actor too. If the world needs a... More

Staying in Malibu

Neighborhood Profile
Malibu
The Malibu coastline is like a chameleon. In some areas it resembles the French Riviera with its lush, green hillsides descending into crescent-shaped shorelines. In others, it feels 100% Southern Californian with beaches wide and flat as a football field, and often crowded with beach-goers lounging on towels and playing volleyball. Other coastlines still feel secluded, tucked under tall cliffs and dotted with stunning rock formations. In certain areas, where the ocean waves are just right, surfers can be seen bobbing in the water. Up in the mountains to the east hikers take in truly stunning views of the ocean and the sprawling Los Angeles landscape. And along Pacific Coast Highway, restaurants are filled with visitors and locals from all walks of life. Stumble into the right place at the right time, and you’ll likely encounter a celebrity.
