Its all about the Location

if you are looking for the perfect sunset then this is the best in Malibu, don't expect good service though, you will wait about 20 minutes for a drink and the food is average. Thats all i can say about this place.

The bar area is fun, great for sunset watching. The locals go there. The service is friendly. We didn't eat there, just had beers. The bar seems to be a bit limited but the bartenders are very friendly. Recommend.

Wanted to try a new seafood place on the water in Malibu and found this rustic wooden structure across the road from Zuma Beach at Point Dume. Limited menu for lunch, a little on the expensive side, but a good view of the beach and water, only interrupted by a steady flow of cars coming & going to the beach... More

Even if you are not a surfer, this is a fine restaurant offering excellent food and fish on Zuma beach. You will enjoy fine dishes while listening to the ocean noise and admiring whales. Service is pleasant, there is a free private parking. The only negative point is that the restaurant is noisy and you may have to raise your... More

We'd watched the sunset many times from Zuma Beach and thought we should give The Sunset a try out. Best said its a beach cafe with great location but don't go there for the food - it's expensive: $150 for two people (one main each and only one starter plus one glass of wine each) - ouch. Undercooked crab cake... More

Based on a recommendation I went here last night with two friends. Fantastic Happy Hour menu (all food was $5 and the food was GOOD!!!) followed by an exceptional dinner. Our waiter Shannon (a man - Shannon Herr as we found out) was attentive with great recommendations and nice too. So glad we waited in us. I'm not sure where... More

This was my 1st visit to this restaurant but based on my wife's experience, I took family there for lunch. Beautiful views of Zuma beach, Nice menu, nice selection of beers. I enjoyed my meal (mussels) and I'd go there again.

had a superb meal here, service though was dodgy to say the least. We had previously attempted to book on the sunday via their booking service but had no reply, and when we arrived here was a private party so had to go somewhere else. we had specials of the menu lobster and crab spaghetti and whole sole. Both tasted... More

My wife and I booked a table 2 1/2 weeks out and we needed a credit card deposit to hold our reservation. We arrived a few minutes before our scheduled reservation and our vehicle was valet parked. Checked and and waited. The bar is very loud. We waited approx 30 minutes to be seated. We were taken upstairs (by elevator)... More

Great place...you won't be disappointed. If you're into quiet, not for you because of the noise spillover from the bar, but hey, you're on the beach with a fantastic view of the ocean.

Neighborhood Profile
Malibu
The Malibu coastline is like a chameleon. In some areas it resembles the French Riviera with its lush, green hillsides descending into crescent-shaped shorelines. In others, it feels 100% Southern Californian with beaches wide and flat as a football field, and often crowded with beach-goers lounging on towels and playing volleyball. Other coastlines still feel secluded, tucked under tall cliffs and dotted with stunning rock formations. In certain areas, where the ocean waves are just right, surfers can be seen bobbing in the water. Up in the mountains to the east hikers take in truly stunning views of the ocean and the sprawling Los Angeles landscape. And along Pacific Coast Highway, restaurants are filled with visitors and locals from all walks of life. Stumble into the right place at the right time, and you’ll likely encounter a celebrity.
