Great views but mediocre food

We'd watched the sunset many times from Zuma Beach and thought we should give The Sunset a try out. Best said its a beach cafe with great location but don't go there for the food - it's expensive: $150 for two people (one main each and only one starter plus one glass of wine each) - ouch... read more

Based on a recommendation I went here last night with two friends. Fantastic Happy Hour menu (all food was $5 and the food was GOOD!!!) followed by an exceptional dinner. Our waiter Shannon (a man - Shannon Herr as we found out) was attentive with great recommendations and nice too. So glad we waited in us. I'm not sure where... More

This was my 1st visit to this restaurant but based on my wife's experience, I took family there for lunch. Beautiful views of Zuma beach, Nice menu, nice selection of beers. I enjoyed my meal (mussels) and I'd go there again.

had a superb meal here, service though was dodgy to say the least. We had previously attempted to book on the sunday via their booking service but had no reply, and when we arrived here was a private party so had to go somewhere else. we had specials of the menu lobster and crab spaghetti and whole sole. Both tasted... More

My wife and I booked a table 2 1/2 weeks out and we needed a credit card deposit to hold our reservation. We arrived a few minutes before our scheduled reservation and our vehicle was valet parked. Checked and and waited. The bar is very loud. We waited approx 30 minutes to be seated. We were taken upstairs (by elevator)... More

Great place...you won't be disappointed. If you're into quiet, not for you because of the noise spillover from the bar, but hey, you're on the beach with a fantastic view of the ocean.

A casual unpretentious restaurant where one can see and hear the waves crashing on the beach. The menu has a nice variety of contemporary choices of items that are attractively presented.

Went for lunch here after it was recommended by the receptionist in our hotel. It was a weekend at lunch time so expected it to be busy but my god, busy was an understatement. It was so crowded, we asked for a table, was told 20 minutes, waited nearly an hour. Getting a drink at the bar in the mean... More

It was so good last year, we returned this year for a lovely lunch on the beach. We had a window seat so the view was wonderful of the beach and ocean. The lunch was very good. They had artichoke soup and I had never heard of it, so of course, I had to try it. It was good. The... More

The view is to die for, right on the beach with the rolling surf, dolphin sightings and an occasional whale. The service was very good, the food excellent. I had a Chinese chicken salad which was delicious, my grandson had a pulled pork sandwich with sweet potato fries and my daughter had a baby beet sandwich, both were very good.... More

Neighborhood Profile
Malibu
The Malibu coastline is like a chameleon. In some areas it resembles the French Riviera with its lush, green hillsides descending into crescent-shaped shorelines. In others, it feels 100% Southern Californian with beaches wide and flat as a football field, and often crowded with beach-goers lounging on towels and playing volleyball. Other coastlines still feel secluded, tucked under tall cliffs and dotted with stunning rock formations. In certain areas, where the ocean waves are just right, surfers can be seen bobbing in the water. Up in the mountains to the east hikers take in truly stunning views of the ocean and the sprawling Los Angeles landscape. And along Pacific Coast Highway, restaurants are filled with visitors and locals from all walks of life. Stumble into the right place at the right time, and you’ll likely encounter a celebrity.
