Attentive service!

Great service and a fantastic view. The waiter was great and knew the menu well enough to recommend some great dishes (squid and dessert). The food was good, but quite pricey for a lunch. We had the squid for entree, which was beautiful, but the burgers and sandwiches were ok. It was hard to find... read more

Moonshadows has one big attraction sweeping ocean views and and outdoor patio on the beach. the food is okay not great but that doesn't stop hordes of people from swarming the place especially visitors for whom the sea is a novelty. you must valet park or risk loosing your life to speeders zipping along PCH at 80 miles an hour.... This is perched over the crashing ocean in a beautiful stretch of land called Malibu, but feels like a local place! Easy to get to, easy to park with valet and they honor reservations ON TIME! The best seat in the house is outside and their service is excellent. Great menu, but you will be distracted by the view anyway.... More

Moon shadow is one of the most suggestive place-on-sea that I'm never been.. The perfect time to be there is for the sunset, where you can enjoy your dinner with an amazing view and share with your friends a magical moment in a frame of music, wine and sea food..on Malibu! What else?

We had an 8 pm reservation. We were seated right away. We sat at the window over looking the ocean. But, it was also right next to the kitchen entrance. We could see everything going on. The food was very good. The drinks were good. The service was ok. The noise level was way too loud. There were 2 bachelorette... More

This is a good place to people watch and enjoy the beautiful ocean view. The ambience is great. Our waiters were very friendly and attentive. The lounge/bar decor is modern and hip. However, I do have a problem with their food. I think for the price that they charge, they should serve quality food instead of some sort of pre-made... More

This is an interestingly designed restaurant that sits on the ocean's edge in beautiful Malibu. Some people say it is famous. It is only stuffy if you let it be. Ask for one of the ‘cabanas’ on the deck. We had a bit of a problem with our steak orders matching the sides , but the management was quickly attentive... More

This is that place that you look for when you are traveling and then you keep coming back! Whenever we are in LA, we try to find time to visit Moonshadows. You have to drive all the way to Malibu - but it is worth it! The restaurant is literally over the water. My favorite place to sit is the... More

We drove up from LA to Moonshadows for dinner - and WOW, it was so worth it! Every single person working there was very friendly and attentive, especially our waitress! We very much enjoyed that there were different people, besides our waitress, who would smile, make sure our food was ok, and make sure our water glasses always full! I... More

Moonshadows is a great place with great food, great views and very friendly and fun staff. Except for one and she is the one whom you meet first when you enter - the hostess. She appeared there recently, perhaps, 8-12 months ago. Being the hostess, she is the first person you encounter and your mood just plummets upon that encounter.... More

Staying in Malibu

Neighborhood Profile
Malibu
The Malibu coastline is like a chameleon. In some areas it resembles the French Riviera with its lush, green hillsides descending into crescent-shaped shorelines. In others, it feels 100% Southern Californian with beaches wide and flat as a football field, and often crowded with beach-goers lounging on towels and playing volleyball. Other coastlines still feel secluded, tucked under tall cliffs and dotted with stunning rock formations. In certain areas, where the ocean waves are just right, surfers can be seen bobbing in the water. Up in the mountains to the east hikers take in truly stunning views of the ocean and the sprawling Los Angeles landscape. And along Pacific Coast Highway, restaurants are filled with visitors and locals from all walks of life. Stumble into the right place at the right time, and you’ll likely encounter a celebrity.
