Great food- Pricey - Average Service

We went to Easter Brunch- Pre fix menu- 4 courses. The food was excellent with a good variety of choices. Two of us are GF and we had no trouble choosing our meal. It included champagne which was nice. Overall it was a good experience but I probably wont go back as I didn't feel the experience... read more

we stayed home in malibu over the holidays but needed a break from at home cooking. as choices here are limited, we returned to the carbon beach in and were not disappointed. seating was quick with an ocean view table and a casual lunch of cheese burgers and turkey avocado bacon lettuce and tomato sandwiches. dinner gets fancier but we... Question. Would you give a merchant a copy of the front/back of your credit card and Photo ID to hold a reservation for a $68 pre-fixe menu? If not, then don't include Malibu Beach Inn/Carbon Beach Club in your selection list for Holiday meal reservations in Malibu. I reserved on Open Table only to be contacted by the hotel to... More

We were at this hotel for 7 nights and ate here most lunchtimes!! Lots of great restaurants in Malibu that this one stood its ground. in the evening if... More

A cozy little restaurant within a charming hotel, with old world charm and fantastic location and view. But not much else, service is slow, waiters are average, nice but not professional by any means, management is totally absent, and food is so up and down! Great place to have a drink but not much else. Calamari and salad are Ok... More

We came into Malibu with high expectations given many of the reviews of the restaurant at this hotel. The views were terrific, but that is where the quality started and stopped. Despite having a reservation and the restaurant calling me the day before to re confirm our 11:15 am reservation, we arrive don time to a relatively empty restaurant and... More

Came here for a special bday celebration at the recommendation of a friend who 'heard' it was good. I made reservations and 1 day prior they left a voice message asking me to reconfirm. I did. Arrived at about 11:20 for an 11:15 reservation. The host told me it would be a few minutes then went to the lobby to... More

An amazing terrace just above the beach, being part of a rather unattractive hotel. Food very nice, although the menu could live with some more variety. Come here for a nice lunch enjoying the ocean.

We stopped here for breakfast on our drive from Los Angeles to Cambria. Ended up driving past so keep your eyes peeled when you know you'll be getting near. We turned up without a booking on a Saturday morning around 9.30am and got given a great table right by the edge, waves crashing under us, as we enjoyed a truly... More

Staying in Malibu

Neighborhood Profile
Malibu
The Malibu coastline is like a chameleon. In some areas it resembles the French Riviera with its lush, green hillsides descending into crescent-shaped shorelines. In others, it feels 100% Southern Californian with beaches wide and flat as a football field, and often crowded with beach-goers lounging on towels and playing volleyball. Other coastlines still feel secluded, tucked under tall cliffs and dotted with stunning rock formations. In certain areas, where the ocean waves are just right, surfers can be seen bobbing in the water. Up in the mountains to the east hikers take in truly stunning views of the ocean and the sprawling Los Angeles landscape. And along Pacific Coast Highway, restaurants are filled with visitors and locals from all walks of life. Stumble into the right place at the right time, and you’ll likely encounter a celebrity.
