The drive to Lotus was worth every savory bite. Our dinner choices were the wild salmon special and pork schnitzel with an excellent bottle of Tempranillo (Napa). My husband and I adore the Gold Rush history of the Cafe's building, built in 1855. You have to see the original doors to appreciate... read more

This is a fine dining establishment near the river resort area of lotus- Coloma. It has a county inn feel with its old brick and rustic wood structure. Even though it is a fairly small room there are generally more tables then they will seat, and the seating is intentionally staggered, because they want to make sure they can have... More

My sweetheart and I had just spent a week backpacking in the Desolation Wilderness west of Lake Tahoe. Fantastic and beautiful back country. On the Sunday that we came out of the back country, we stayed a night at the fantastic Eden Vale Inn near Placerville. We were looking for a nice and healthy meal, and the Cafe Mahjaic was... More

We recently celebrated our 48th wedding anniversary at Mahjaic. It was the perfect evening. It was on a Wednesday night with no large groups, so quiet. Our server was charming and helpful and our food perfect. For a reasonable price we chose the Price Fix dinner. Portions were small enough that I could enjoy everything, including dessert! My appetizer was... More

I manage a boutique hotel in Glen Ellen (California) and heard raving reviews about Cafe Mahjaic from one of our guests about a year ago. Wanting to celebrate my fiancée's birthday with something particularly special, I decided to take her to this restaurant on a trial run. Walking in with a rare bottle of B Wise 2005 Cabernet, we found... More

I only gave this four stars because of the difficult time we had twice before getting a table and getting ANY food on the second visit. The third visit was worth every penny. Had the Price Fixe Menu, and it was pretty amazing. Not only was every single bit me and hubby ate so delicious, it was beautifully presented as... More

Based on the tripadvisor reviews we had high expectations but what we encountered was incredibly poor service and bad food. We ordered the prix fix - one sea bass and one steak. The appetizers were just ok but the Ceasar salad was swimming in dressing leaving a soggy lettuce mess on the plate. The steak was ordered medium rare and... More

The food was yummy and different. I had the chocolate prawns and I ate every bite! They were fluent in gluten free and the service was wonderful.

I had heard some good things about this restaurant so we decided to drive through the foothills to find Cafe Mahjaic. It was somewhat difficult to find and nearly drove past it. We made our reservation via OpenTable without any difficulty. It is a small place with interesting old, old wooden floors. We were seated promptly by the hostess/waitress. Service... More
