L.A.'s Ultimate White Tablecloth Wonder

Speaking as one who navigated overseas by Michelin stars, preferredly in triumvirate, I would not hesitate to assay that "Providence" is currently Los Angeles' ultimate celebratory dining experience, bar none. Established L.A. Chef Michael Cimarusti's seafood-focused cuisine is... read more

Highly rated but I experienced Providence food as just okay for all the hype and the price. Ambiance and service were excellent, beautiful presentation. My steak was perfectly cooked but not very tasty. Sides were good, extensive wine list. Would not rule out trying again but will order something different.

Speaking as one who navigated overseas by Michelin stars, preferredly in triumvirate, I would not hesitate to assay that "Providence" is currently Los Angeles' ultimate celebratory dining experience, bar none. Established L.A. Chef Michael Cimarusti's seafood-focused cuisine is Japanese-inflected culinary artistry expressed in 3 Tasting Menu formats, attentively served in a newly-renovated contemporary dining venue (the old "Patina" digs on... I've heard all the rumors, and now I know they are true! The food was so amazingly subtle, and beautiful. We had a prix-fixe meal, which was supplemented by a few amuse-bouche offerings, all pretty wonderful! The dining room was very low key and relatively noise-free, which was very nice to find. The staff were all very helpful, very professional,... More

Great food but a few mistakes where made.. Really to bad that they didnt ask us for wine! The food was great ( the amuses were to die for!) but the Place were they put us was terrible four tables in a small room. Also the speed between the courses was very quick. The only time when they asked us... More

Providence was voted #1 in the top 100 restaurants by renouned food critic Johnathan Gold. We went on a Wed night, deposit was required for reservations. Nice clean decor with seashells climbing on its walls. Servers were in suits, and business casual dress code required. Service was semi-formal and attentive. Only course meals offered - Market ($115), Signature ($195), or... More

Providence was definitely a great treat during our LA trip. Each dish tasted great and the presentation was awesome. We had the tasting menu, and they were able to tailor it to our dietary restrictions. My wife had a delicious non-alcoholic 'mocktail'. I had a couple different beers, and it seemed like they had a very unique selection. The one... More

Service was very attentive and better than LA standard. The food was very delicate, and typical of a degustation menu. There are three fixed priced menus. As our reservation was late for LA time, we could only pick from 2 fixed prix menus. The third would have taken 4 hours, and they would not let us order that option. As... More

What spectacular service and food. I took my wife to eat here for her birthday. While they do not do anything special for birthdays (adding her name on the specials card was all they do), their reputation is certainly justified. The service was impeccable. The chef's menu was way too much food and simply phenomenal. This was a 12 course... More

Celebrated my wife's birthday with another couple. Don't be misled by the nondescript building on Melrose that you see on arrival. When the door opens, you are transported to a modern, tasteful, warm and welcoming environment. Then, the show begins. The set meals are summarized on the menu, not fully described. We opted for the seasonal prix fixe meal, showing... More

Great service, great food... what else could you ask for in a restaurant? For me, it was that little extra that makes a restaurant five stars. I felt this place was missing that. I can't put my finger on it but I just didn't get that warm and fuzzy feeling from the staff. They were exceptional at their job and... More

Staying in Hollywood

Neighborhood Profile
Hollywood
Hollywood undoubtedly conjures up images of movie stars and high-end lifestyles, and to this day, tourists flock here from around the world to see the iconic Hollywood Walk of Fame, Chinese Theatre and to catch a glimpse of the famed Hollywood sign up close. Celebrity impersonators and crowds give these areas the feeling of an amusement park while many clubs and hotels fill up around the weekends for late-night partying - the Hollywood club scene is a haven for thumping music and table-side bottle service. But parties aren’t the only way to enjoy this area, many visitors come to the neighborhood to sit back with a picnic to watch a performance at the Hollywood Bowl and those looking to stay fit trek along nature trails in the Hollywood hills and in Griffith Park.
