We had lunch here on April 14, and it was very good. The pub is located on a street where plenty of store fronts seem to be just on the verge of having interesting shops move in. Step inside and you really could be in a British pub, sans cigarette smoke and accents! Dark wood walls, an authentic looking bar,... more

The Whale & Ale is not a hotel. I don't know why it's listed under hotels. The Whale & Ale is a restaurant, in the style of a British Pub. It serves very good food at a reasonable price. The decor is very homey and pleasant. It has a bar area with a dart board, a dining area up front... more

As soon as we walked through the door of the Whale and Ale British Pub in San Pedro, Ca. we felt as if we had just entered a pub outside of London. The front room so quaint , intimate and welcoming, with cushioned seats along a bay window .. and a nice arrangement of tables leading to the back room.... more

I discovered this British Pub Style Restaurant while searching for an authentic Beef Wellington Dish on the internet. As it turns out, this restaurant does a fabulous job in preparation on this hard to find dish. The chef, David, who doubles as Assistant Manager, flawlessly perfects the filet mignon doneness with a flair. Served with duxelle of mushrooms inside a... more

The Whale & Ale although a charming British themed Pub, is not a hotel. I would recommend it as a place for a nice lunch or dinner with a good beer though. more

The Whale & Ale in San Pedro, the Port of Los Angeles, is a great place to eat and meet your friends. But don't eat your friends, no matter how good they are, the food here is better. The meals are very reasonable for the quality (excellent), and the help are so friendly, you'll never forget the Whale & Ale. more

The Whale and Ale is true to itself in all respects. It is a 'public house" in the tradition of the English countryside but located in the very interesting port of San Pedro. The food, service and ambience are head and shoulders above what might be expected at this (moderate) price point. Visit Andrew and his very professional staff. You'll... more
