We were traveling out of LAX on 2/21/14 to fly back to CLT and went to the airport early so we could have lunch at the Encounter. We asked a TSA agent and an Airline agent near our ticket counter how to get to the restaurant. They gave us directions, and we walked across to the restaurant entrance. We were... More

Free Parking, Good Food (I had the Lamb), Great View. THis historic building at LAX has the best opportunity for a layover or dinner date. Enter on the lower level, opposite Terminal 2.

Gave it a rating of Very Good due mostly to the great view from the restaurant. On a recent trip to Thailand, we found ourselves with a rather long layover at LAX - both on our way to and on our way back from BKK & HKG. We had dinner here on the way out and luncheon on the way... More

Our first foodie experience upon arriving in USA. I ordered the calamari, only to receive a little calamari with a lot of octopus..it didn't even state on the menu there was octopus in this dish..was disappointed to say the least..as I only wanted calamari..service was slow, and we had to wave down people for a second drink. Our first experience... More

We end up at this restaurant each time for a last bit of LA! It is absolutely breathtaking! Watching the planes land and depart is a highlight! Go at night to get the ultimate experience! However, before 5 p.m. there is an observation deck that could be just as good! It is priced very reasonable for the atmosphere. A very... More

I love this place. Have eaten there twice - once on a 3 hour layover where I met up with LA friends, and once with family and friends. The menu is very good, the food well prepared and tasty, and the service staff excellent. In terms of airport restaurannts, this is a cut above. The Jetsons style building is an... More

I have had many ameal at airport restaurants. The view and the decor were unique for an airport restaurant. It is a very popular place, as well. The food and the service were quite good. The prices were reasonable for an airport meal. I recommend this restaurant!

We had a couple hours between flights and had heard about the Encounter at the center of LAX. We walked over and it opened at 11am. The grounds while waiting are neat with lots of historic plaques and a neat memorial in the center to 9/11. Who knew? Then the short elevator ride is unique as it plays 60's style... More

We really enjoyed it here, the decor is cool and the service is very good and quick. The food is good but a bit expensive. The menu is very small and they could do with having a few more options. The appetisers for instance were mostly fish based, a bit of variety would have been good. The view is lovely... More
