Niche bar with great atmosphere!

The lobby bar is a great place to meet and relax. I haven't found such a place in a long, long time. Nicely lite with a great cosy atmosphere. The staff are great as are the drinks and eats - and all at a great price. Take the seats on your front right as soon as you enter the bar,... read more

This restaurant is in the Hilton Checkers - a boutique Hilton in downtown LA. Because the restaurant is not visible from the street it is not as busy as the others nearby. White tablecloth. Dined here twice during a recent stay. Ate lightly the first time - food was very good but I was a bit surprised to be charged... More

Was there on a Saturday night with a friend. Checkers was recommended by concierge at the Biltmore. It was close, so we tried it. We didn't need the reservations because the restaurant was almost empty. The tables covered with white table clothes set with wine glasses elegant, and lonely. We enjoyed something light and a glass of wine. Conversation was... More

Attentive wait staff, over-sized servings, good menus. Small dining room which was appealing. Adjoining bar with small reception area.

Literally the BEST breakfast I have ever had. We went twice while we were staying in the hotel and every time it was magnificent. The service is unhurried and friendly. The food is excellently prepared. The atmosphere is elegant and sophisticated. I love this place. I will come back even if I'm not staying in the hotel.

The hotel was clean but not outstanding. It was a little old for me. No fridge and I wasn't crazy about the location. The roof top lounge was nice in the evenings. The ice machine was broken on our floor. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

While checking in we reminded them of our Hilton status, he basically told us that it does not matter. I had asked for the manager to call me when he was available and 48 hours later during check out I still had not heard from anyone.

The breakfast in the hotel is pricey, but very good. I recommend the Huevos Rancheros. The service was a little slow but the food was delicious.

We had frequented this restaurant long ago-then it seemed to go downhill. We were told recently that it was again excellent-so, we went for lunch before the Opera. The room was freezing. Our complaints went unheeded. So, we ordered from a small ,but interesting menu. We were served our salads and both were very good. 20 minutes later and no... More

We were a group of five and each enjoyed our dinner selection of salmon, fluke and filet mignon. All were excellently prepared and presented, portions were just right. Wine list was decent. Our waiter was attentive and efficient. The restaurant in itself is small but the modern design makes it an ideal place for a quiet dinner. The outside dining... More

Staying in Downtown

Neighborhood Profile
Downtown
Downtown Los Angeles is a busy metropolis of towering buildings, bustling streets, and industrial warehouses. There is a distinct multiplicity of cultures here with a growing influx of business professionals and hipsters. Many call the evolution of Downtown over recent years gentrification. New lofts, bars, hotels and restaurants are popping up regularly. Downtown is home to some of the very best restaurants in the city leading the LA foodie scene, plus it is the location of cultural and sports venues including the Walt Disney Concert Hall, the Staples Center, and the Coliseum at the University of Southern California.
