We keep coming back to this great Bistro - Yes it French - yes it is noisy - yes it is pricey - yes it has a great buzz. BUT the food is great the service better and front of house is ready to make you feel at home. The salads are fresh and local ingredients so they change with... More

I've ate here a number of times over the past few years and it's consistently reliable - so reliable that I almost always order the same food, french onion soup (hearty, tasty and done right) and the pepper steak which has an excellent sauce and some of the best french fries you'll ever get. Wine list is solid and not... More

While most would suggest you don't order chicken in a restaurant, I'm a contrarian. The Chicken Mistral, which come either with a Garlic Rosemary Sauce or a Dijon Mustard Sauce are fantastic. My friend has the New York steak and really likes it. The soups, salads and desserts are fantastic. I would order a Chocolate Soufflé if you haven't had... More

Henri Abergel has created a a wonderful French restaurant on the east side of Sherman Oaks. The feel is like a NYC or Chicago deco retaurant - elegant yet not stuffy. Everything on the menu is great - especially the Panko Crusted John Dory, all of the steaks (try them Echalottes), Lamb Chops and the Rosemary Garlic Chicken. Great cicktails... More

Mistral is small, charming and has friendly and competent service. Most of all, as is appropriate for a restaurant, it has great food--great French food. There is nothing pretentious or precious in their cooking, just fine ingredients and spot on preparation, From one of the best Pepper Steaks anywhere, to classic French Sole Meuniere, from a simple but wonderful roast... This is a great place for foodies and great service. Very quaint and definitely a gem of a restaurant for couples or having dinner with friends. The steak is great!

I have eaten here many many times. Was there on a weds night and the had sweet breads as a special appetizer. Had mine prepared with a brown sauce with some fresh mushrooms. SOOOO GOOOOOD. Been a while since I was swept away. Had the bone in prime rib eye afterwards. Place is always excellent.

If you enjoy great French food, served in an intimate setting with an excellent wine list, this is the place for you. Mistral is a small local place with a big presence. It's been in business here for 20 years and that speaks volumes. Recommended but make a reservation.
