A success story

Totally unassuming, tucked in the middle of a strip mall, gated parking lot. The owners are from Cuba, the taste is Cuban, and its delicious. I like the presence of the gentle couple, the waiter/s and i love the classy clientele. It's a charm by itself. We've been there so many times, with... read more

My step dad, who was Cuban, would take us to El Colmao frequently for dinner. As a child living in Los Angeles in the 70's, this was the greatest treat for us kids, and he never failed to make this day memorable for us by allowing us to order anything from the menu. He passed away, I grew up, and... More

This is a independent (non-chain) restaurant that has been here for decades. Hands down, it is the best Cuban food I've ever had, and the fact that you see a lot of people of Cuban nationality eating here is the first indicator that they know how to prepare their food. My favorite is the Bistec Empanizado, rice with the black... More

I had come back from a trip to Argentina and was craving some cuban food. I hadn't been to El Colmao since I was a little girl, but I use to go often as my father is cuban and my mother and i love the food. Location: Not far from Alvarado street in what I like to call little el... More

Whenever in Los Angeles, I take the time to visit this great little family owned restaurant with the best Cuban food I've ever had. My favorite is their Bistec Empanizdo, Yuca con Ajo, black beans and rice, with their sweet fried platanos. The atmosphere there is casual and fun and the waiting staff is great. If you want a real... More

Been going to this family owned Cuban restaurant for many years. It's very clean, located in a little shopping strip center. The food is excellent. True in authenticity. Great service. My favorites are the Bistec Empanizado, the avocado & white onion salad. The spencer steak with fresh grilled onion and green pepper is full of flavor and tender! Great place!

El colmao is the place to go in Los angeles for authentic cuban food. They have hands down the best seafood Paella in town. I also enjoy their typical Cuban dishes as well like the ropa vieja and yuca en ajo. The wait staff is also great.

This family-owned Cuban restaurant is located in a strip mall on W. Pico Blvd. in Los Angeles. I LOVE this place. It's a simple, nice and clean restaurant with booths and tables where you can sit and enjoy your food! Oh yeahhh...the FOOD!!! It is truly authentic Cuban food, the way only Cubans can make it! I love their Bistec... More
