Yummy and unusual

It's not easy to accommodate 13 people, but the patio at the Standard Hotel restaurant was great. A group of us walked up the road from the Westin Bonaventure and were seated on the open air patio with a view of the Canadian consulate and the Los Angeles sky (if not the skyline). Go there for some wine and drinks such as the Aperol Spritz. Try and get some room on one of the white and red things - very fun!

The food in the small bar upstairs was good. Recommend the Dirty Dog. The main restaurant was a bit pricy and the food was average.

This bistro dining area of the hotel is very pleasant. Plumped for steak and was not disappointed, nor excited by it...average and good value.

Ate here twice. Huge food selection. Not outrageously priced. But not 'discount' either. Both times the srvice was courteous & prompt.

Long queue (25 min to get in on a Friday night); $20 entrance fee/person; few gimmicks (waterchairs), horse sculptures... and a beer corner; good views of downtown but nothing thrilling.

Hands down one of my favorites breakfasts in any restaurant. The bacon pretzel french toast is to die for.

Four folks from our conference found the Standard Roof top bar to be a nice place to relax in the evening. The service was fast and friendly. We had a selection of cocktails and hors d' oeuvres. The Thai grilled shrimp were quite nice. The menu could have had a few more options however there is probably something on the... More

We came here for dinner with a group of 19 women and they handled it as if we were a table of 4. They were well prepared, ahd plenty of wait staff and the food came out in a very timely manner. The food was also on par and everyone loved the options that were chosen. We sat outside and... More

Staying in Downtown

Neighborhood Profile
Downtown
Downtown Los Angeles is a busy metropolis of towering buildings, bustling streets, and industrial warehouses. There is a distinct multiplicity of cultures here with a growing influx of business professionals and hipsters. Many call the evolution of Downtown over recent years gentrification. New lofts, bars, hotels and restaurants are popping up regularly. Downtown is home to some of the very best restaurants in the city leading the LA foodie scene, plus it is the location of cultural and sports venues including the Walt Disney Concert Hall, the Staples Center, and the Coliseum at the University of Southern California.
