My dad use to take me here when I was growing up, so naturally I come here with my husband & kids whenever I can. It's right in downtown Chinatown in Los Angeles, so you can walk down Broadway before or after you eat & look at all the shops. Usually there is no wait but still busy. There are... More

This is probably the best Chinese food I've had around here. It's always a good thing when most of the people in a Chinese restaurant are Asian and we usually seem to be one of the few non-Asians there. They have 3 places around town, the one in Chinatown and the one in Pasadena/Arcadia are great. The one in the... More

We were in Chinatown in LA and I googled "best hot and sour soup in los angeles", and this was one of the restaurants that popped up. Since we were a block away, we stopped in. It was crowded, but we got a seat and had a large soup and a couple of ice teas. I think the large soup... More

I've been in LA's Chinatown a couple of times so don't mind weak grammar and dilapidated run down streets. Sometimes shops are small on decor are big on flavor. But, quite frankly the crappy atmosphere in LA's Chinatown is just not an exciting adventure. I like NYC Chinatown and it is just a short stroll to Little Italy.....But after this... More

After enjoying more than 20 different group meals at Yang Chow’s, I recommend at least two orders of slippery shrimp for any party of 3 or more. Otherwise your guests, no matter how friendly, will keep nervous eyes on the platter of disappearing shrimp and subtly jostle for the serving spoon. People might get hurt. So keep the mood light... Every trip to CA is also an opportunity to have dinner at Yang Chow and have the Slippery Shrimp. It has become part of our travel itinerary we never miss. Any dish we've had has been excellent. The food is delivered quickly and the service is great. Love this place!

I never visit LA without stopping at Yang Chow for my portion of slippery shrimp! I love those sweet and spicy guys. The wonton soup is also a favorite of mine Lang with the spicy garlic chicken. It does get a little pricey with drinks, food and tips but it's the only place with slippery shrimp and that makes it... More
