I stayed at the Best Western Dragongate in Los Angeles because it was in Chinatown and I wanted to visited Yang Chow restaurant. I had written down this restuarant (I read trip advisor reviews)before leaving Idaho on my trip , the hotel clerk recommended it also. I was able to walk to the Hotel from Union Station, check in and... More

The outside was dark so we weren't sure it was open. Then we opened the door, the place was packed! The staff was so friendly. The good outrageously delicious. You must order the slippery shrimp. I have never had anything like it. And the lo mein was great as were the fried dumplings. GO!

Too bad we had breakfast on the morning that we visited Yang Chow! A solid choice for some outstanding food. Highly suggested. And, yes, the slippery shrimp is outstanding. The simple beef with broccoli was outstanding. Kung pao seemed a bit off on the sauce but otherwise give it a shot. We said "ok" to having everything brought out as... More

When we arrived we was placed on a nice little table in the corner of the restaurant. The staff constantly filled our water glasses and were very friendly. The slippery shrimp was unbelievable!!! The fried marinade was beautiful. The portions served were massive, we had to take a big doggy bag!!! Would defiantly recommend it!!! It was the best Chinese... More

This was the top rated Chinese restaurant, so I was expecting great things, especially as it is located in Chinatown. Unfortunately I was not impressed. In actuality I am able to obtain better Chinese food where I currently live in the suburban Phila area. Based on quite a few reviews we ordered the slippery shrimp. They were tasty, not overly... Stopped in this restaurant purely by chance when visiting Chinatown. As other reviewers have pointed out there isn't much of a lobby/foyer for people to stand and wait for a table, but in my opinion a good measure of a restaurant's food is in the number of people willing to stand and wait to get in. The line was out... More

We wanted to eat at a restaurant in Chinatown and the Food Network show brought us here. I was not disappointed in the Slippery Shrimp, and the portion was huge. I have a big appetite generally and had trouble eating it all. Not the best thing I ever ate, but definitely good.

I really would give it 4 1/2 - 5 stars but only tried a couple of items and there is no option for 1/2 star, we tried Slippery Shrimp and the Spicy Szechuan Wanton Soup both were excellent but our favorite was the soup. We will probably go back at least once before we leave. Also the staff was very... More

Yang Chow is one of my favorite restaurants in the world. My favorites are slippery shrimp, a lightly battered crispy, sweet and spicy concoction which is probably the restaurants staple dish. Other dishes I enjoy are schezuan chicken (or beef), chicken shreds in spicy garlic sauce and pan-fried noodles. This place is not everyone's favorite and some may believe it... More

We were lucky to be staying nearby at the Best Western Dragon Gate Inn so therefore didn't have to deal with any parking, also we were able to go early for lunch and did not experience any wait but could see restaurant fill up for lunch as we perused our menu. Great service all the way to the end where... More
