OK, the place is a little greasy. It's got that depression era atmosphere, but the food (try the Pantry Burger, it is just awesome). Open 24-7 and the breakfast is great. Cash only with a caged cashier, can't blame them, Skid Row is after all only 4 blocks away. more

I love this place because: 1) It's been open 24-7 for about 100 years, 2) they employ ex-cons as waiters, 3) they serve MEAT & POTATOES, 4) everyone gets fresh baked sourdough and fresh coleslaw as soon as they sit down, and 5) it's a part of LA culture. more

Love the character of the place. Makes you think of how old newspaper men and women used to dine on wooden booths. more

Great atmosphere, kind an old school diner out of the Depression era with big counter and dining area...big portions...the beef tenderloin steat (filet mignon) is as big as Ruth Chris or Morton's but for about $15...breakfasts are also great...limited menu but again plentiful...go early or later to avoid the long lines more

Food was good, but I don't know if I'd say it was so outstanding nor unique enough to want to go back. more

Delicious food and lots of it! You have to wait a bt, so wear comfortable shoes. more
