A Memorable Meal

There’s no shortage of expensive sushi places in L.A. I’ve been to many of them and for the most part I think they’re just OK. Even worse many are pretentious and snooty. I have been coming to Asanebo for years. Lunch, dinner, business, friends. It is a place I know will never disappoint my out of town guests, especially from other countries. Restaurants that impress are hard to come by in LA. The sushi is simply divine here. My favorite dishes are the Sesame Tofu, Lotus Chips, Halibut with Truffle, Red Snapper... More

They have stuff you don't find at other sushi place. They have freshly imported fish from Japan. They have real Japanese sushi master. Only thing is price. We spend about $1000 including tax, tip for three of us. We had a very good sake though.

Its nondescript location in a strip mall conceals one of the best Japanese restaurants since Nobu Matsuhisa came to town. The chef's choice tasting menu is pricey, but well worth it; you'll be treated to some of the most creative and exquisite delicacies you've ever eaten. Although there are standard sushi and sashimi offerings, this is not your standard sushi... More

Never before have I eaten at a sushi restaurant where they have been so capable of distinguishing themselves from every other sushi restaurant. It is all about ingredient quality and preparation here. Such insane attention to obtaining the best is likely what drove their Michelin star a few years ago. What is Asanebo not? It’s not about an imposing entry... More

Don't get me wrong, the food was terrific, but the price was uncalled for. We must have had 4 or 5 people ask us what we wanted to drink. No communication. Way too much for dinner. $400 for 3 of us, and all we had to drink was beer on tap. I would not go back

I love good food, but it is not often enough that what I am eating is so good that I don't want to talk or do anything except completely concentrate on what I am tasting. This is absolutely in that category. Service also great. Highly recommended.

I love sushi and when the sushi master has been gifted with the divine ability, he can really creates a paradisiac experience. Dobin mushi, tuna and salmon sushi, sashimi were all simply delicious. I cannot think to Asanebo without having mouth-watering.

The Skinny: Parking- metered street or valet Decor- minimalist, tight spaces Food- very $$$ Service- doesn't match the prices Restroom- clean single We came here because it's close to our house and we heard it's the only place in the valley that received a Michelin star. I called to make a reservation and the gal that answered the phone said... More

It's not just sushi but everything will amaze. We started with halibut with shaved black truffle how decadent is that? The yellowtail was maybe the best I've ever had. Chilean Seabass with daikon threads on a lettuce leaf wow. The servers are attentive but give you space.
