Even though I had lived in the LA area most of my life, this was my first time to El Coyote while on a trip to LA. The food was as good as I had read about. My husband had the #1 combo - - the shredded beef taco and cheese enchilada and I had a huge burrito. Both were... More

I was taken here by my friend in LA who speaks very highly of this restaurant. It was extremely busy, and quite noisy, and we had to wait little while for a table - not a problem, we hadn't made a reservation. It serves pretty standard Mexican fare and I have to say that I've had better in most other... More

I really was looking forward to visiting El Coyote since it is a restaurant with a lot of history in the area. We went there for lunch on our first day in LA and I would say our visit was pretty good. The food was more authentic and fairly cheap. All in all it wasn't bad but it wasn't great.

Lunch on a Saturday..last time a year ago, this time, really not that good. Of course service is great, people are friendly. Food..eh! Not sure what happened. Some go because they hope to see a familiar face, but the service and it being a "local institution" bring people back.

Our friends took us to El Coyote on our first night in LA as it is a local institution and has been operating for 80yrs. From the outside you do not appreciate the size of the establishment but once you get inside you discover it is a maze of varying rooms, all a buzz with people. The food was delicious... More

El Coyote probably doesn't have the best Mexican food in Los Angeles, but the atmosphere is very fun, the drink are generous, the menu is extensive and when all mixed together it's one of my favorite places in Los Angeles - especially if going out with a big group looking for a casual fun time.

We enjoyed our take out dinner from El Coyote - very fast turn around from ordering to food being brought out - good selection of the 'standard' sort of Mexican fare and big portion sizes. Price for 2 entrees was just under $15 each - good value for a satisfying meal!

Every time I visit LA, I have to stop in at El Coyote. Great selection of food, yummy margaritas and packed with eclectic charm! The food is tasty, with many traditional options. A wonderful group of musicians wander and serenade the patrons. Good value; valet parking makes this spot very convenient in a parking-challenged area. It is a fun and... More

The food was very good. It was not the best Mexican food I have ever had, but it was very appetizing. The margaritas are wonderful.

Anyone who visits Los Angeles must, at some point or another, have dinner at El Coyote. This 1930s establishment is not fancy, not expensive, not sophisticated, however, is one of my favorite restaurants of all time. It's not just that late actress Sharon Tate had her last dinner her before being butchered to death that same night. That's just one... More
